Hi Squids,
I really like the ideas of cinemasessions, symphoniceffects & dimensionaleffects, although I didn't particularly like the demo mp3s u linked to.
Will these be released in IP format only, or will they be released in Sampletank format too? (Also, I'm always interested in Battery3 format, as this is my drum sampler of choice)

I didn't do the demos, I had to quickly put something together that was from the original source. But, they are really good these three. VERY useful for a lot of things.flippya2000 wrote:Hi Squids,

But the will be released in IP/Kontakt format only for now with no plans of releasing it in any other formats at the moment. We're not supporting every format with everything. That's too much work. What we ARE doing is seeing what formats are the most popular on www.downloadablesoundz.com and what people ask for. If it is a strong enough demand then we will do specific things in other formats. Otherwise the default format for new Sonic Reality material is IP. You'll be able to buy our entire archive of high end material and cherry picked licensed material from other eclectic sources around the world.

Our SampleTank stuff is done through IK mainly (apart from group buy custom made products which we will still do). So it has to fit into their production schedule. IK is a very diverse company that makes a LOT of products, not just sampled-based. I think SR will release 3 or 4 things in collab with IK this year. There's a lot in the pipe line. So you never know. SPK is obviously the first which will be out toward the end of this quarter or as soon as possible basically. Then after that... something totally different! A surprise.harmony gardens wrote:Thanks Squids,,, being able to map them would be hugely important,,, guess I'm going to have to figure out a way to budget in Kontakt.
Any chance of a best of set for Sampletank??

Thanks for the reply Squids
Am I correct in assuming IP sample packs will load into Kontakt3? (Sorry I haven't really been following the what-what on IP

Yes, they play in Kontakt 3 and they're also not locked from editing like some Kontakt Player products are from other companies. We even left the REX files open to drag into ProTools, Cubase, Stylus RMX, Reason or whatever else you use. No other Kontakt Player product does that at the moment besides Infinite Player (took some convincing!).flippya2000 wrote:Thanks for the reply Squids

The only thing is you DO have to own Infinite Player (just one) and have it registered before the sounds work in Kontakt 3 otherwise it will bring up an error "you are not authorized to play this sound" or something like that. So the Infinite Player manages the copy protection part of it even if you don't use it and use the Kontakt 3 browser instead. No way to bypass getting IP. But, you can take advantage of editing and other features of Kontakt 3.
There is also an upgrade path to Kontakt 3 from NI from Infinite Player (and all Kontakt Player products).

That's a shame that it won't open in K3, without owing IP. I hope SR produce those packs in other formats (STank, Battery3) otherwise peeps like me (who don't own IP) will miss out..

2. Get epointz
3. Profit - Apply to IP
OK, I'll have to repeat this at the top of the next Group Buy.
Edit - and I chuckle reading that back and keep thinking "BE the epointz... BE the epointz"... Note to self - less coffee.

Hey buscemi,
Thanks for the reply, but tbh, I really don't need another sample player. I don't want to say anymore than that really coz the thread's about promoting SR stuff. I think having multiple formats would be a good thing for SR as it would cater to a wider audience - Even tho I've joined the DownloadableSoundz site - I've yet to see anything there that's useful to me - I got the 6 expansions during the STank/Philharmonik GB & I don't own Reason. Hwr, these new soundpacks could be v.useful, but I simply won't be getting them if they're IP only.

Nah, it's not a big deal to own Infinite Player. We're setting something up where you'll be able to pick even more sounds when you purchase Infinite Player where the sounds alone (like today) cover the cost of the Infinite Player to where it is really FREE (ie. today the Deluxe Piano and Multitrack Sonor Kit on their own together sell for as much as we're asking for the Infinite Player and they are included). So it's really like buying a virtual dongle (that doesn't take up a USB port) and you're getting it for FREE with your first purchase of some sounds for it because it's a wash. If that isn't the most thoughtful system with you guys in mind I don't know what... This is how NI's Kontakt Player systems work. The player itself is the gateway to sounds for their platform. It doesn't mean you even have to use the Kontakt Player but the sounds are attached to its authorization. Not a big deal at all.flippya2000 wrote:That's a shame that it won't open in K3, without owing IP. So, anyway, we'll still have PLENTY of sounds in SampleTank to buy, in Reason and other popular formats. But, there will likely but MORE variety of content in this format because, if anything, there ARE some things that we can actually ONLY do in Kontakt. For instance, the multitrack Rex grooves can really only be done this way in Kontakt's Beatmode and scripting. The layering per key of grooves and the discrete individual outputs and mix control... while still having access to the Rex files! It's unique. We wouldn't be able to do that in anything else like that. Also, streaming sized instruments don't work for Reason and ST either. So, again, if you want the really nice high end archives we've been working on then this will be the way to get it and you CAN absolutely use it in K3 and the way in is painless financially. It's covered by the sounds you can get bundled with it... kind of like this past group buy - just maybe not as MANY as people got in that deal for that price but.... that's why we do a group buy! It's a window of time to get a group together to bring the price down. Maybe we'll give that one more shot this month for IP. Just for the launch. Once you have it then you can add add add add add add sounds without having to authorize again and again. Super easy to add sounds - the easiest of anything you've ever seen! You drag a zip of the sounds to the Infinite Player Sound Installer and it just puts everything in its right place - instruments, multis and samples.

Yes, you can also buy it with epointz too. That's a whole other justification for getting ANYTHING on www.downloadablesoundz.com that you might be on the fence about. If you're hanging around forums and some how name drop your esoundz name delicately in your sig or in your posts where it relates or if you're just talking about our products and your KVR name happens to be your esoundz name (or however the best epointz collectors do it) then you can earn enough to get those extra products you don't want to BUY but still want to have.
Again, we're on the pulse though. We listen and we're reasonable. I think the "flexible choice" thing with the Infinite Player with sounds that cover the cost of it (making it essentially free) is probably the best solution. This way you don't REALLY feel that you're getting anything unnecessary. It IS necessary to use them in Kontakt 3 but if you're buying sounds anyway then it comes with it somehow... it will also be BUNDLED with other packages too (rolled in). So you could just opt to get it when you pick up something like Drum Masters or Konstruction - and you just choose the one "with Infinite Player" vs. "Sounds Only".
Man, I have to say I am excited about this flexibility! It's the first time I've seen a system like this where you don't have to get the same thing twice.

I'm going 2hav2 agree 2 disagree with u there
I don't want to own IP, in the same way I don't want to own any of the Kompakt/Impakt/other NI sample players. If I have K3, there's no point. I don't see the point of a virtual dongle either. Anyways, I will say no more on the matter.
It's good that ur offering this flexibility to peeps who don't/don't intend to own K3 tho

Actually, esoundz IP is a fairly common practice. I own K2 players for VGP, Phaedra, and the old EW/Michael Post bosendorfer piano. I don't use the K2 players, but they are in my vst folder. I use K2 or K3.
Now if you don't want to buy it, that's your business.

Thinking outloud,,,,,,It just means figuring out a way to budget for Kontakt. I need to get some more memory for my computer, some more storage, then Kontakt,,,, starts to run into money.
So Squids,,, how is your relationship with NI??? Is there a chance you could do something like a Kontakt engine only deal for a GB?? Just a thought,,,
or,,, do you have the ability to expand the feature set in IP to include some things like Keymapping??
Sorry, but the keymapping thing is a big deal for me,,, especially for the Sound FX stuff.
If we read between the lines, I guess we shouldn't hold our breath that Sampletank will allow streaming anytime soon??
Even though there are a few things about it that drive me buggy, I've really become grooved into my Sampletank workflow. I seldom use my other stuff, these days. This could pry me away from that,,, I've been gearing up for more live playing, and being able to have some handy sound effects mapped for the show would be so cool.
Are you going to be selling Kontakt upgrades at eSoundz?? I'd rather get it from you, with maybe a generous discount for loyal plantinum members,,, lol. Just my ramblings,,, I'm still just waking up.

Of course if you don't want to get it you don't want to and don't have to explain. However, even hypothetically I am interested to know if you want to tell us your answer to this question. Would you object to owning IP if it was free? If so, why? What's so bad about having it as copy protection for the sounds? It doesn't take up much space and doesn't slow down your computer or anything (and doesn't take up a USB port). What objections are left?flippya2000 wrote:I'm going 2hav2 agree 2 disagree with u thereI don't want to own IP, in the same way I don't want to own any of the Kompakt/Impakt/other NI sample players. Thanks for stating the obviousReverend Rhythm wrote:Now if you don't want to buy it, that's your business.
I have no beef with copy protection, let's get that outta the equation, b4 more peeps feel the need to state obvious stuff (ftr, I've got Steinberg & Pace usb key, so confirm to CP that I want to own).Squids wrote:I am interested to know if you want to tell us your answer to this question.
To answer ur Q - Having something on my HD, that's redundant's the main reason. Also, having to install it, having to authorize it, when if I own K3, I shouldn't have to.. For example, I've bought a NI Korepack during the recent sale - that authorization was pretty painless - via NI's SC.
