MuLab 2.5 - problem loading VST module pages - **bug**

Xoxos just released his SYNG2 vocalizer as a freeware package, so I was giving it a try in Mulab. Most of it works well, but it is an elaborate GUI with multiple pages e.g. the lower panel contents are selectable.

The two panels shown on the right will selectively replace the lower panel in the window on the left. The control to select which panel is three buttons labeled - Mod Phon Word - in the lower right of the upper panel. This function does not work in MuLab but works in other Host programs (so you are stuck with the Mod panel). Here's the link to the SYNG2 VSTi module ...

Note that to operate this VSTi, you must send midi channels 1, 2, 3 to this VST. This is easily accomplished in MuLab, not so easy in some hosts and impossible in a few hosts. Channel 1 is pitch events, Channel 2 is Phonics events, and channel 3 is pieces of words. End result is interesting.

Indeed a weird problem.

I'll email the developer.

i only outsource gui handling elements, which is why i prefer not to use multipanels :)

having not heard of this error previously, i would expect it to be an os issue as much as a s/w issue, and you can probably use a vst wrapper (eXT, chainer) to enclose the incompatability.
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

It works fine if you run the sequencer in Mulab...

Heck of a workaround. Hit the spacebar then click the VST panel change button then hit the spacebar and make your changes.

Of course the play cursor has now moved. A little inconvenient, but results can be achieved.

Found the problem.

MU.LAB uses a smart bypass algorithm so that plugs don't waste cpu when they're silent.

Now it's clear that Syng2's GUI depends on the 'processEvents' VST call.

If you right-click Syng2, and set the Smart Bypass to OFF, then things work as expected.

Xoxos, is it normal that the Syng2 GUI doesn't work if there are no 'processEvents' calls?

i'd expect that's the issue, i've seen similar for instance when vst output pins aren't connected in other hosts, presumably making the same call.

And so what's the solution?
