Just took a break from recording in MULAB to see this. Great news, thanks Jo. Nice choice releasing it on a day where most of us don't have to be up in the morning, too.

Damn! I've really got to get some studio time to play with your new toys, Jo. Virtually all of my time lately has been spent on video projects, mostly for other folks. I'd barely gotten a look at the first version of the musynth, and now the things I'll have to learn have expanded exponentially! :)

Congrats on all the progress -- from what I've read here in the forum you've produced some amazing things.

Hello Jo,
I've just tried now to open sessions made with Mulab 1 and Mulab 2.5 says that I must use an intermediate version...
Is it a bug ?

Post

No bug;

You need to first 'upgrade' the sessions using MU.LAB 2.04.

So open them in 2.04 and save them again. (taking backups is always safe!)

Then you'll be able to open them in 2.5.

Apologies for this extra step.

The reason is that MU.LAB is a young system which is evolving intensively.

Now it's important for develoment efficiency to keep the versioning-code-clutter as low as possible.

What i could do is to add a helper function which can open+save a full folder of musession files at once.

This would make it easy to upgrade all your musessions in 1 go to the next MU.LAB.

Added such function on the whishlist for 2.5.1. which will be effective then to upgrade your musessions from 2.5 to 3.0. And to other future versions.

Post

Ok. I still have Mulab 2.04.
I have also a session where what I see on the piano-roll is not what I actualy hear : the sound comes 1 beat later...
Is it a delay due to a plugin ? Do Mulab have PDC ?

Congratulations on the achievement Jo.

MU.LAB 2.5.1 has been released with a couple of improvements:
  • New: File menu -> 'Upgrade Sessions' function to upgrade multiple sessions to a newer MU.LAB in one go.
  • Fixed: OSX: On some systems, there could be problems with the mouse, especially the mousewheel
More info about the 'Upgrade Sessions' function, see the docs: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/main-menu.html

The MU.LAB packages on the MUTOOLS Downloads page are up to date.

If you already have installed 2.5, you can also just drag-drop this latest application patch into your MU.LAB 2.5 folder:

WIN: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/mulab-251-win-patch.zip

Trivial:
Audio setup and MIDI setup are on the Edit menu.
VST Plugin Manager -- which feels sort of like the same kind of setup type thing -- is on the File menu.
Choose Library Folder and Choose External Audio Editor are on the Edit menu. Skin Chooser -- another user choice kind of thing -- is on the File menu.

Can I suggest moving the VST Plugin Manager and Skin Chooser to the Edit menu somewhere?

(Wish I had more useful comments but I'm still rushed off my feet and not getting any quality time to play with MU.LAB! I think the last version I really got into was pre-2.0 /sigh/.)

See your point.

Will reflect on this.

Post

Oh... and being able to configure my "favourite folders" from one of the menus would be nice... (vaguely like Object Management on the Edit menu).

Yes... I'm suggesting there's a whole bunch of user preference stuff already in MU.LAB and it's a bit scattered and could do with pulling together, somehow... :? I'm sure you'll come up with something better than I could.

Hi, does MU.LAB support multi-core processors?

Bestest, Paul

Not yet, but it's one of the top items in the whishlist.
