Hey everybody. How's it going with Black Magic? Any new problems, new solutions, observations... Any new kits?

Just curious. I'm using it everyday and liking the results myself. Version 16 doesn't work for me, but 15 is killer.

I took a break since development's been put on hold, but I'm hoping to catch up with it before we start back up again.
Thanks for info on 16. If I have problems, I'll roll back if 15 is still up or maybe I have it still.

Hopefully we can use this time to build more stuff and test so the transition is smooth for Andy when he rejoins the effort.

I should be back up and running by tomorrow (touch wood), just re-installing my vst's now with all the jumping through loops of the C&R activations...

How about we all create 10 or more presets for Andy, so he has a large pool to select from when he's back?

I'm a bit discouraged by this standby situation, it was the first time I really took the time to beta test a software & put a lot of hours & then poof! I have a set of bongo samples for it thought I don't know when Andy will be ready to work on his software again. It's a very sad situation.

As it is, it's already a great tool/instrument.
I don't know if it needs too much more work on it.
Any work done now, like kit creation, etc., won't be a waste of time and will benefit the project once it is back on track.
I respect Andy's need to take the time he needs to focus on dealing with his personal crisis.

I completely sympathize... I don't think anyone would stop working on a project at this stage in development unless it was completely necessary.

As for BM, I still can't figure out why I can't load this in Live. I've uninstalled/re-installed Live, cleaned Live's cache, defragmented the computer and deleted all temp files/programs and still no success. I still can play this fine through cantabile lite, just fine so I don't understand why i can't do it through live? ...just strange.

Well, I'll still work on figuring this one out, but can't wait for when everything resumes. This is a very nice piece of software that I really started to miss when I hadn't played it for a few days. The potential for usage grows the more you understand its capabilities.

I have also been looking forward to using all those CM samples through this, since till now, they've mostly been collecting dust.

Andy, I hope you're hanging in there and again, it looks like we're all ready to pick up wherever we left off.

Beta 16

The random sequence button in the sequencer section puts a note in position 1 of all lanes whilst the global sequencer randomise button doesn't

Edit: I'm an idiot, I missed that the first note light was on

Installation position text on C: was blank on installation which did stop me using BM for half an hour or so till I figured it out. Re-installtion didn't fix till I deleted HGSounds_Black_Magic.txt first.

FR: A button to reset the red pattern lenth markers
FR: A window or tool tip which shows current value of knob.

Woohoo! I finally got it to work! ...well its a work-around, but it works!

For some reason I can't get it to load using an Asio device, so I switched it to the windows default, where I was able to load it up and THEN I switched back to Asio without any problems!


This really does kick-ass. I've been having fun mangling some rhythms by automating the main pitch control and FX mix buttons. I can definitely get some great use out of this, but just wish I understood why I had so many issues in the first place.

Oh well, I'm happy for now.
