No, it's not tons of cash, but they're not endearing themselves to me...
I don't use Omnisphere but it sounds like an excellent upgrade indeed! On the other hand, it's more of an update than a 'Point O' release (the upgrade from Atmosphere costs $249). Automap Pro 3 is basically a whole new product which explains the $30 upgrade price.
:)

Also, its more than Drag and Drop for the upgrade. You've got multiple Novation device support as well as XY pad automapping! Very cool indeed!

Are you a Novation employee or something? If not I think you're the only one that is feeling ok with this.

I like the fact that it now offers an "Automap all" feature but it also wraps .dll(s) that shouldn't be automapped within some VSTi(s) and VST(s) and when I search through those particular .dll(s) to "unmap" them, it takes sometimes 2-3 un-ticks to unmap them...VERY time consuming indeed, especially if you have many plugins that you would like to have mapped. I think that the software and the concept is brilliant but personally I feel that if you have already had purchased a product that came with this feature, it should have been a free upgrade. I understand that times are tough and all but it just would have been a nice thing to do for those who have already had some version of Automap in their possession. I have downloaded the new beta and have been re-mapping plugins yet again for the second time around. I wish that the new versions would automatically scan for previously automapped plugins and add them to the new menu therefore cutting the time that it takes to automap plugins by a great length. Let's hope that future versions will address this and the other issues already discussed.

Cheers!

So, uh, has anyone used Automap 3 yet? I'm not inclined to buy Pro, but is standard markedly better?

Still not out yet.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but for the bleeding edge folk there is a beta download available (v3.0fc4) which I found by accident through Google. It must be the basic version because the GUI has a button marked "Get Pro".

I thought you had to register to download, but it seems you don't ... being a sucker, I just installed it and the process was very smooth.

After installing the main download package, and starting Automap for the first time it recognises that the Remote SL OS is out of date, and guides the user through the steps required to update via the Automap window - slick! Much better than before :)

BTW, I'm on OS X 10.5.6. Can't test Windows at the minute (machine is currently fried).

Peace,
Andy.

Automap 3 is out! It seems like they are still working on the announcements and getting Pro online. I tried to get Pro but couldn't as the Focusrite site told me it wasn't available 'in my area'. Still, I've got Standard for now and am very pleased indeed!

Got standard (3.0 - RC) a couple of days ago from the Beta site, I am very happy with it so far, and since I own a Nocturn and a ZeroSL, I will go pro as soon as possible.

What does 3.0 standard do that 2 didn't?

I'm getting an undefined external error from Midi ox after this update. And Automap 3 tells me no device is connected though the Novation Remote Zero is on.

Had to roll back the system and now all is working again.

Not sure what's going on here. I'm on Vista 64. Any ideas anyone?

In automap 2, there was a setting for the startup screen to not show up automatically every time you load a host. Now I can't seem to find that setting. I get the startup screen every time I load ableton and have to close it manually. Anybody know how to avoid this?

Post

Does anyone know if Nocturn is now shipping with Automap 3.0 or Automap 3.0 Pro (I still don't have one yet :-) ).

As far as the ideological argument on Novation ripping people off, how is this any different than an upgrade to your favorite DAW? Also, would you rather Novation roll out new controllers with Automap 3, rendering the older hardware obsolete? $30 guys!

It's always funny to me when I hear the normal "rip off" chatter when a company actually tries to get some money for work they've done. Maybe you should buy a Soviet based Automap application. Oh wait, there isn't any because there's no motivation to make one.

So, for the price of dinner for 2 at Denny's you are telling me it's horribly unfair for Novation to ask for a little cash for some extra programming magic? Maybe you should get a paper route and start saving up.

To the poster who thinks they should have purchased another controller, Novation makes the best and you have it.

I have never ever posted anything on any forum b4,but reading this thread i felt compelled.
What a rip off! I haven't been using the automap feature because it dont play nice with logic at all. I bought an sl cos i was led to believe that with 'automap' i'd be able to control all my plugins and logic instruments without any hassle. No chance. Now they want more money...for what!? Trying to make the software do what it should have done in the first place. How can anyone justify this...and whats more why would anybody waste there time trying to unless they have a vested interest?
Yes $30 is F all...but they don't deserve it...they should be apologizing for taking so long to add basic features that should be included as standard, not asking for more money.
I will not be buying any novation products in the future because of this experience.

Has anyone upgraded to Pro yet? I placed an order and nothing happened! But my card was charged. Maybe they are still sorting it out.
