i posted a ticket and also called and left a message with muse... lets hope this can be fixed!!

Could you boot pressing F12 to see what's happening ? Make sure your monitor is not set to turn itself off after a while.

It froze up after the CPU i believe spiked and there was no way to restart it the normal way, so i was forced to hold the start button till it reset.

At which time i figured ok, i could be back running in 2 minutes... and of course, after hours, it is STILL not past the initalizing phase..

I have a 500gb hard drive which is NOWHERE near full, and the ONLY reason i left it on is because i found this post on my blackberry during the show when i was hunting for a fix!

To be honest.. im disappointed... i bought this thing to be stable and trust worthy and within my first few weeks, this is what happens...

Any thoughts or suggestions or something so this doesnt happen again!!!

I would have thought that for ultimate reliability on any PC based system - use a decent UPS. This will smooth any voltage spikes and keep the machine running. You will find that on stage mains supplies can be unreliable and will cause issues.

I don't have it hooked to a monitor or keyboard actually...I just go stand alone, thus I was wondering what's with the f12, ill bring one into the studio tomorrow to check it out....

As far as power, I'm not getting voltage spikes and I'm hooked to a furman conditioner so I doubt that's it.

It froze when the cpu peaked, for some reason, though I only have 3 instruments open, fairly big ill admit, and was using the sustain pedal. Though none of the instruments play at the same time...

Running the pro 40 500 gb hd with komplete and 2gb ram...

Its still stuck mind you.... I finally got sick of the 15 hours and shut it off and restarted but same thing.... I'm feeling something more is going on than just a disk check....

Help anyone?

IIRC I think this happened to someone on KVR before. Muse replaced the motherboard.

If your Receptor moves about, it could also be that cables inside need to be reseated. And not to forget the possibility that your bios is set to Halt on Errors.

YOu definitely need to hook a monitor and boot in verbose mode. Then we can at least make an educated guess.

Post

Hey guys, I'm going to hook a monitor to it tomorrow and see what happens. Ill let you all know what the result is, thanks for the help. I would hate to have to re send and replace! Its 2 weeks old!

Post

Well, this happened to me yesturday 4 hours before the gig!!!!

I'm a little calmer today, but man was I frustrated yesturday.
As the majority of my sounds come from receptor, I was in a very tight spot before the gig. I can't believe how lucky I was to have bought a motif xs rack the day before - so spent time programing that to get me through.

Anyway, my rev C is stuck on the initializing screen. I searched here and hooked up a monitor and have got "Error reading block 10001 (Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read)."

So I guess my hard drive (400g which I bought as an upgrade from Muse with Komplete 4 installed), is now dead?

I'm in Australia - now what?

I haven't sent Muse a support ticket yet, but I will. :help:

Cheers
Kim

i wish i was able to do that for our gigs, unfortunatly the majority of the sounds i use are custom Kontakt sample sets - which i would run in ableton along with any backing tracks its just not as stable in my mind (well given this situation who knows..)

anyway, in a few hours ill be hooking up the monitor to it and telling you all what it says so maybe i could get a bit of advice here..

so what are the procedures for gettin a readout... just hook a monitor and keyboard and press f12 when it starts the boot process???

Post

Guess what, f12 isn't bringing up anything? And nothing comes up on the screen at all....

Post

OK, then open the case, press on all cables to make sure they're seated properly, and pray your Receptor starts. If not, then it's more serious and probably warrants sending back to Muse.

Post

well, everything is hooked up, nothing is loose or anything of that nature. Mind you this thing is extremely new and hasnt even had to chance to be shaken around for more than a week!

Perhaps the 2 Pro would do the trick a bit better... seems to me that the v1s are a bit underpowered - though i was playing 1 instrument. when 9am rolls around over by muse ill be giving them a call to see whats up

Post

I had the same experience as bulletproofmes several days after receiving my Rev C last July. I sent it back to Muse and was given a new unit from Nova Musik, the retailer I purchased the original Rev C from. I was not given an explanation for the error, and since I the new unit that was shipped to me worked perfectly I did not press the issue.
I'm happy with my Rev C, though I would like to have a little more processing power. If you have the cash to upgrade to a Receptor Pro 2, go for it.

Post

So the end result after getting off with tech support is that something is clearly wrong. Requiring me to send it back. We shall see what happens. Anyone ever upgrade from the rev c to the pro 2? What did that cost?

Kermit Jagger wrote:Today when I started my Receptor it got stuck on "initializing system...".

Rebooting and pressing the F12 key to start in verbose mode (to see what's happening during the boot), I got the usual "/dev/hda4 has gone donkey's years without being checked, check forced".

Tell you what, with a 500Gb drive installed, you've got time for a coffee... and then some ! It took over 1 hour 30 minutes to get this done. Pff....

Anyway, don't panic if this happens. Your machine is not broken.

Hi,

can you tell me what does it mean in "verbose mode." My new receptor has the same problem.
It's not initializing. I connected a monitor and a keyboard. Nothing shows up.

I pressed F 12 when starting. Nothing happens.

I spent a lot of money for this. Many Problems for a lot of money. Usually it's the opposite.
