I think that looks to be one of the best and most modern synth interfaces I've seen. A pity though it's let down by an ergonomic annoyance for me - why on earth do you need to use a keyboard shortcut (ctrl drag) to access some filter settings? If, like me, you tend to play the filter (with mouse or controller) while also playing the keyboard that would leave you with no hands!! (unless you have 3 :))

You might want to try the Twin 2 interface before drawing any conclusions.

If you look closely, you notice that there's a hidden pane for each section that provides full control over the parameters; the ctrl drag is only a shortcut to access those settings without opening the pane.

Did anyone notice a unison mode for the oscillators? - I tried pausing the high res' video, but could not find anything.

As the previous version has it, I doubt they would remove it.

Since Twin (V.1) offers unison of up to 32 voices, and since Twin2 obviously will be able to load Twin (V.1) patches, there most certainly will be a unison mode.

Oh good that they have more than one way of doing it. I wish all devs took this on board when it comes to keyboard shortcuts for musical instruments or hosts.

Did you read the whole conversation, or just pull this one up for kicks?

aMUSED,

I've watched the video several times and am still not certain about this, but it looks like just one click on the filter and it will then expand and allow manipulation of all the settings.

Maybe bManic can confirm, or maybe there's another tester/sound designer that can confirm here? I just figured it would be a lot like Pro-C with the "expert" option, or at least you can say I'm hoping its like Pro-C.

Just to clarify, unison in Twin is achieved by stacking whole voices; it's not contained inside the oscillator stage. So I assume it will be the same in Twin 2. (Lots of synths work this way -- Massive, FM8, and VirSyn TERA come to mind.)

Yes. It's the same unison and clicking on the thumbnail windows opens a graphic editing panel that is very easy to use. It is all very fluid in practice.

Apropos upgrade pricing, here's some info from Floris at the FF forum:
The normal price for Twin 2 will be 129 Euros. But of course, FabFilter customers will be able to purchase an upgrade or crossgrade to FabFilter Twin 2 via their account ( www.fabfilter.com/myaccount ).

The discount for upgrading from Twin 1 to Twin 2 will range between 50% and 65%, depending on which other FabFilter plug-ins you already own.

If you don't own Twin 1, but do own one or more other Fabfilter plugs, you can crossgrade to Twin 2. Here also, the discount depends on the FabFilter plug-ins you already own. For example, when you have the FX Pro bundle, you can crossgrade with a 31% discount.
Seems very fair!

I guess I'll get it, having three of their plugs already. Question is do I need it? I already have Reaktor and Absynth.
