A regular DAW, though I don't think I did too much that couldn't be done on a notation program.
I used three instances of Miroslav. One for all the percussion and miscellaneous articulations, one for the meat & potatos of the arrangement (woodwind section, string section, brass section), and then the third one was all solo instruments that I mixed in. So I subtley mixed in a solo violin with the violin section, etc.

This is Great! And you work exactly the way I do with the Miro. it's so easy to just dedicate an individual instance of the Miro to as you say, sections, percussions and solos. I also have always mixed solo strings into the sections and use track envelopes to bring them in and out in a phrase.Gregjazz wrote:A regular DAW, though I don't think I did too much that couldn't be done on a notation program.

It is harder to work with the EWQLSO because of the Kompakt/Kontakt interface as compared to Philharmonik and for that reason I always start a piece in the Miro and then use the QLSO for substitutions as needed, but several times I just wind up with the whole thing being done in Philharmonik!
After over a year of using this, I have come to really appreciate what Squids has done with Miroslav's original library. I owned the original and never was able to even come close to what I'm getting out of it now. The woods are still the most lyrical.
I also apologize if I've hijacked this thread, I didn't want to turn it into a "Miro Appreciation" post!
Its just that hearing pieces like this one prompt me to write about how great the Philharmonik actually is and especially how easy and fun the GUI is. Thanks again Squids!

Thanks for all your compliments, guys!
There's definitely stuff I need to fix and work on--the second movement is boring, and the first movement develops a lot, but it doesn't evolve enough. I need to do more with counterpoint and develop that main melodic motive more.
I love Miro, and with this song I wanted to see how well it could do punchy stuff, since it's really more suited towards slower, more emotional tunes (I think, and from what I've heard other people say).

Greg - that is some brilliant work for the first movement. I was so jealous I could have strangled you while listening to it.
Could I insert you into my brain for a while and soak up some of that talent?
Looking forward to hearing an improved second movement when you get around to it.
Regards
Caleb

This is superb Greg! This definitely should be a demo for Miroslav. I only wish I could write any thing half as good.

Greg. You are a genius. No other words to describe you. I have Miroslav and I love it. I've been doing mock ups of my compositions for about 6 months now and I'm only just getting the hang of it. My only gripe with Miroslav was the lack of versatility with the strings, so I bought HALion to give them a boost, but all my stuff is mostly Miroslav. This is better than all the EWQLSO stuff I've heard. In fact, I would say that it is only VSL that I can honestly say is better, and that's from the VSL demo website itself.
This music is certainly better than the official Miroslav demos. If you can give me any tips on how to get the best out of Miroslav, then I'm all ears. You are a certainly the best master I have ever heard with this library.
How can I improve this composition. Just a couple of tips to set me off is all I ask for.

Here's something I've been working on over Thanksgiving. The second movement (that last part) is still under construction, but you get the idea.

It's entirely Miroslav Philharmonik, of course.
If u don't mind me asking, how long did it take to compose?

Thanks for bumping this up again.
I have a shorter version of this that was posted on another forum and was hoping to hear a fuller version.
It's good work.
The restatement and variations on the original themes are nicely done.
