+1, I was actually thinking about this as well... even further: direct sfz support, although limited to dk+ features, would be awesome if at all possible... it could even become the default format for dk+ banks...midiboss wrote:Another one...
.dk+ format is not 100% notepad editable, like .sfz for instance. It would be nice if it was...

Thank Juanjo,Juanjo wrote:Plus round robin, maybe?liqih wrote:Yes, thanks for the feedback, it could be indeed a nice feature to add to version 2.0 we're working on,
so we'd have 10 sample slots for pad, with 3 options:
- velocity split playback
- weighted random playback
- same time playback with level per sample
(btw, glad to see you back!)
round robin is not much different from weighted random playback, no?
SFZ, well we could add SFZ itself as format as it's free, yes I also like that it's editable in Notepad,
The license you buy is the same, <wink>Off topic; Is there a difference in purchasing DK+ from nusofting or from dontcrack.com?

Well, I see random robin (weighted random playback) as more of a creative tool and round robin better suited to emulate the nuances of acoustic kits... in practice, the main issue with random robin is the chance that the same sample will play twice or more in a row (i.e. "machine gun" effect), which is particularly noticeable/undesireable when playing fast repeated hits with acoustic kits... with round robin you make sure that this simply won't happen.liqih wrote:Thank Juanjo,

ok so I could add "no repetitions" to the random playback and have a better use for acoustic kits emulations

Another one; I have tons of MIDI loops collected from the web. It would be nice if DK+ 2.0 has
-SMF MIDI loops browsing with direct implementation in it's pattern sequencer. It can be limited to certain length(DK+ limitation) and GM note ranges, since MIDI files can be batch manipulated quickly and massively.
-Also offset for each hit would be nice, to give-keep that live drummer feel. That would definitely give boost to DK+'s pattern sequencer usage and overall popularity through users extensive file exchange via SMF loops.

+1 and I'd go even further (dreaming is cheap you know...):midiboss wrote:-Also offset for each hit would be nice, to give-keep that live drummer feel.
- Manual time offset per step, from minus half step to plus half step: for precise control over "performance imperfections"
- Random timing variations around the selected time offset, with range selectable from zero up to plus/minus half step: for actual random imperfections from subtle to extreme, and as a creative tool
The mind boggles.

for me what would make a v2.0 dk+ a wanted update
in step sequencer mirror and halfspeed and doublespeed note functions(without
changing host tempo, this is a function i still use a lot in the drumeditor of notator on atari)
better import formats (sf2, or maybe akai s1000) lm4 in dk is pretty nonexistent
more synthesis parameters (ringmod from Bdm ), some integrated noise and osc
to make synthetic kits without samples

I'm curious if the step sequencer sends "MIDI-out"... I can't find any reference to it anywhere.
Thanks...
Thanks...

It does have midi-thru but AFAIK no. However you can click and drag the sequence export button on the sequencer page. Looks like this ( dE-> ).Shabdahbriah wrote:I'm curious if the step sequencer sends "MIDI-out"... I can't find any reference to it anywhere.

My request is a programmable pattern sequencer. I don't need 24 patterns. Most of the time I only need 5 or 6.
Instead of having.
ABCDEFGHIJKL
MNOPQRSTUVWX
on two static rows. I would like a scrollable input area of maybe 6x12 lines where each slot/space can be any pattern or none. Right-Click popup to select pattern to go in slot.
AABCBCDEBCBC-F&
This would play pattern Ax2(intro) BCx2(2 verses) DEx1(Bridge) BCx2(2 verses - or verse/lead) - (Break for a pattern) Fx1 (outro) & (END)

Ah, thank you. Though I am ALWAYS on the look-out for (another) grid-based step-sequencer with midi-out, to control other things.
THIS one looks very nice... With "midi-out" - it could even be a separate product (me thinks).

Hi all,
I see what you mean but I think we have a different use of DK+, to me the DK+ sequencer is nothing more than ah handy tool inside the plugin to quickly layout drum patterns and NOT a way (even though possible) to compose a whole song.
I explain why: first the facts, DK+ is basically a full features sampler dedicated to drum kits, it's a VST plugin so you need an Host which usually has its own evoluted MIDI sequencer, with several quantize options.
Now in DK+ we have the feature: "using MIDI note messages on channel 16 you can switch pattern", but if you build a song this way you need to dedicate a MIDI track in your host anyway to this channel 16 commands, and you will end playing the patterns with the strict quantization of DK+ sequencer (except the swing, shuffle),
That's why we added the easy MIDI file export function, as we thought that you can build your basic patterns quickly using the DK+ sequencer,
and build you own styles library. When you need to arrange a song in your Host simply drag&drop the patterns from the DK+ to a MIDI track
in the VST host and make the full song there editing the groove as advanced as your VST Host allows.
Also note that the DK+ patterns are limited to 10 pads, but when you have exported into a MIDI track
you can add hits for the other pads (remember DK+ has 24 pads per kits).
The VST environmet has been made for that, modularity and interaction of components.
