Leslie, how do you use the "plasma" texture?
It's not available to choose from my knobman (1.33) but it shows when I load your knob files... :?

<Edit> Just found out I have to add the texture to the texture-folder.
Know any good texture resource?

Post

The marshals are possible and not to hard really. play with color on that metal surface a bit and it will look the way you want, might want to add a .png to get that grooved look on the top.

Very nice! Are those legal to use commercially? Hard to find info on that site.

edit:

Just read the FAQ on the forum
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use these textures for free?
Yes, the textures can be used for free in 2D or 3D computer graphics, movies, printed media, computer games and 3D models.
You are even allowed to bundle the textures with your 3D model or scene and sell it as a package.
You are not allowed to sell or redistribute the textures as a competing product, not even when you modify the images. So don't redistribute or sell textures by itself, as texture packs or as scrapbooking packs.

Do I need to pay royalties when I use the textures?
No, CGTextures is not like most a stock photography sites. Textures can be downloaded for free and used for free.

Well, it's that time again. :) I'd like some opinions on a UI I'm working on using SkinMan/KnobMan. It's for a reverb that I will eventually sell, so this is for a commercial plugin rather than a freebie.

I need to add a bypass switch, but I'm not sure where to put it. Maybe move the status box over to the left and put the switch in the upper righthand corner?

The font style for the larger labels is called Good Times. Cheesy?

I used Arial for the smaller labels. The Good Times font didn't really work at smaller sizes. Is having two font types on the UI bad, good, ok?

Too much gray?

Any additional comments/suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

i really like the simple look, nice clean GUI, but 2 things jumped out at me

1. it looks like a colour GUI that you have converted to greyscale
2. Because of that, the green doesnt match at all

i really like it tho 8)

Fonts seem fine to me, but The top bar is awfully big. I would compact the top of the plug so that there's not so much space up there. I think the "reflections label could be very small and somewhere else if need be. You could make the 100ms/ 5ms smaller, too if you like? I like that it is simple and clean though. Not too much gray for me :)
..what goes around comes around..

Post

It's not too much grey but as kriminal said the green doesn't really fit, if you saturate the green it might be better.

New version:

I got rid of the LCD window and instead used a status bar at the bottom (in my browswer, the status bar is cut off when viewing it in the post, so you may need to so a "Save Target As..." and view it outside of the browser to see the full UI). I also installed a bypass switch.

I tightened things up a little at the top of the Reflections panel and added a Global label to the bottom panel.

Post

Tightened things up even more.

[edit]Brightened it up a little, too.[/edit]

Leslie-this looks great, but I think the background looks a little washed out. I like the red led, maybe the knobs could have red instead of white markers.

Post

Or add some kind of brushed metal texture to the background.

Post

New version with brushed metal background. I also made the border lines that mark off each section wider.

[EDIT]Oops! Accidently overwrote the previous image on my website. At any rate, here's a green version.[/EDIT]

I liked the BG better in the previous version (though it could have used some color). The new one looks a whole lot like noise+horizblur rather than metal. The random scratches in the previous one on the other hand looked rather natural to my eyes. :P
