Mackie!?!?

That's a surprisingly uninformative subject header, considering just a few more words would have made it actually work. For example: "Mackie Shutting Down!?" or "Mackie Victim of Recession!?" As it stands, it looks like you're wondering if the article is talking about Mackie. So to answer your question: yes. You can tell by the way they refer to the company in question as "Mackie".
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I don't see where any actual facts are in that thread though. Just a bunch of forum users speculating. Not that it isn't happening. I have no idea. But I would think that people would wait for some kind of REAL info before jumping to believe people who really seem to have no idea.

Well, there was the press release from LOUD... and this is the 3rd time now I've heard of mackie going under. Once from my sweetwater rep, once from my local music store, and now on GS.koolkeys wrote:I don't see where any actual facts are in that thread though. Just a bunch of forum users speculating. I thought it was interesting given how a lot of their products have been lagging behind in substantial updates.

There were a few press releases and a posting from the Washington Post that pretty much verified most of the details of the story about Mackie's chinese factory closing down, and taking the proprietary tooling and dies with them.koolkeys wrote:I don't see where any actual facts are in that thread though. They've been linked to in this forum.
Sorry, but I'm too tired to find them and link to them...

Not saying it isn't happening. Just that I didn't see anything on that link and wondered where the info is coming from. Of course, shutting down factories doesn't mean going out of business. It just means downsizing.
No need to prove it really. Just thought I would make sure that people weren't basing things on that thread alone(seemed that many were putting a lot of trust in that thread).

They did just release Vista drivers for Onyx, although not much can be read into it. It's a pity for the workers. There is still a little less soulless corporateness about Mackie I think. Their stuff has held up for me, just T isn't really coming along.
I wonder what I want in here

I reported this a while back, but it came right from Loud's mouth, and really only indicates reorganization going forward.nix808 wrote:They did just release Vista drivers for Onyx, although not much can be read into it. It sounds like 2008 wasn't that great for them, prompting a reshuffle and battening hatches perhaps.

The thread at gearslutz is growing with more reliable, and depressing information
I wish they'd just give tracktion back to jules, and he'd take it back into his loving embrace. I'd buy another tracktion license in a minute if Jules was back at the helm.

They're giving up on their hardware business and putting all their efforts into Tracktion.

I'll tell you what I read into that: WTF! They're just now releasing Vista drivers? Vista is already about to be superceded. Granted, the new drivers will most likely work with Win 7 as well, but that seems a really long lag time to release Vista compatible drivers.nix808 wrote:They did just release Vista drivers for Onyx, although not much can be read into it.
IMHO, that just makes a Tracktion update that much further down the road.
