Seriously, useful presets for a compressor would require prior info on the source material being fed.

i have read on KvR that there is no such thing as a useful comp or EQ preset as the settings are so dependent on the source audio,dj ray wrote:I really hope the presets are useful and plentiful
from how i'm reading he didn'tdj ray wrote:You shouldn't be making assumptions about what I do or don't know.Grain Bastard wrote:If you have no idea on how compression works then why on earth would you buy a compressor plugin.
I guess I didn't account for randoms who buy shit even when they have a brain full already.dj ray wrote:Don't make assumptions about what I do or don't know.Grain Bastard wrote:If you have no idea on how compression works then why on earth would you buy a compressor plugin.
Great stuff! It's the creative use of Ratios and Attack/Release that make good compressor presets, while the Threshold usually needs to be adjusted manually.andy_cytomic wrote:The Glue will ship with useful presets, but you will need to trim the Threshold and Makeup on each one to suite your audio material. Although dialing in a preset takes no time at all, it's nice to be able to save your own settings for easy recall later on. I've put the only two things you need to trim, the Threshold and Makeup, right at the top next to the VU, and made the lighting highlight them most for this very reason.

The short answer is:Compyfox wrote:One thing that kinda bugs me on the comp: the ratio.
There is onyl a ratio of 2, 4 and 10. Why not 6, 8 and 20 too? Or is this simply a room issue on the GUI, Andrew?
Just wondering. Never really used the real SSL console (wasn't "allowed" to touch it while being a student) so I don't know, but I'm used to more agressive ratios from LA and 1176 clones.
Code: Select all
ratio 1.33: 10/1.33 - 10 = -2.5 dB
ratio 2 : 10/2 - 10 = -5 dB
ratio 4 : 10/4 - 10 = -7.5 dB
ratio 10 : 10/10 - 10 = -9 dB
ratio 20 : 10/20 - 10 = -9.5 dB
ratio oo : 10/oo - 10 = -10 dBSubmit: News, Plugins, Hosts & Apps | Advertise @ KVR | Developer Account | About KVR / Contact Us | Privacy Statement
