Hey, is it me only or does zebra2 takes a long time to pop up when i call it in for example Ableton live or flstudio?

I mean, not when i load it, but when it is allredy loaded but it is no visible and you call it to come up.

In my computer it takes like 5 seconds o more to laod, this is actually pretty much, the other vst's just pop up right away.

Any experiences ?

How many themes/skins have you got installed? I've noticed that this can slow it down, but havn't quite found the cause.

Also, I suspect that massive amounts of patches can cause a second or two to scan through. I'm working on that one though as the number of available patches grows rapidly.

Zebra used to pop up almost instantly the first time I called up its GUI after opening a session. With the newest version of Z2, it takes 5 or 6 seconds to come up the first time for me in Sonar and Kore. Granted, I think I have something like 4,000+ patches now, but it wasn't much less with the previous version. It's no big deal for me - Omnisphere still takes longer to open the first time.

Zebra's always been one of my slowest VSTs to load, which is unfortunate since I use it so often. I do have a lot of presets, but it's been slow loading since I first got it.

Well, I'm kind of spoiled probably, and I have recently downsized my preset library

Can you do me a favour and temporarily rename your presets folder to "Zebra2_orig" and see if that speeds it up? Afterwards you can delete the new (empty) folder and have the patches back. This way we can see if it is indeed the presets.

If it isn't, could you do the same thing with the Themes folder?

I have spent a lot of time on this about 2 years ago, but back then it was some text comparison voodoo. If it's the presets, then there'll most likely be an easy solution, which can be done during overdue enhancements of the preset browser and the MIDI Program Changes (bank select).

I was going to add my concern about gui load times, but after your comment about the number of themes installed, I removed all but 2 of them.

The load time is much better now... I had many themes in the folder which were edited to be brighter and with more contrast.

Although the gui loads faster, I would not call it fast, I really do not want to trim my preset folder any further, so any other improvements from your end (if any), would be appreciated.

Still... Zebra-2 loads quicker now than it did yesterday, so the theme trimming works.
