Hi,

I'm running SB under OS 10.4.11, creating AUs for use in Garage Band.

I found a weird bug with the Name field in the Settings window. Here is what I am doing:

1) Create a new model in SB. Click on the background and set the Name to TEST1 in the Settings window.

2) Select Install As AU... from the File menu. As expected, the file TEST1.component appears in the Components folder.

3) Launch GB, look in an effects pulldown. As expected, TEST1 is there.

4) Quit GB.

5) In SB, change the name to TEST2. Select Install As AU. Now both TEST1.component and TEST2.component are in the Components folder.

6) Launch GB and go to an effects pulldown. Only TEST1 is listed. Something funny going on here!!!

7) Quit GB. Put TEST1.component file in the trash. Now only TEST2.component is in the folder.

8) Launch GB, check pulldown- TEST1 is in the list!!!

Here is what is happening- once the SB model has been named, the Name field can be changed, but the plug-in will appear in the host app under the original name.

Does anyone know how to fix this??????

Thanks,

Dan

Hi!
Maybe that's something about "subtype".
Please read the chapter "5.2.6 Setting up the plugin attributes -• Subtype:" on the manual.

No, nothing in the Subtype section affects this problem.

Another manifestation- Suppose I want to use an existing file as a basis for a new patch. If I open a file, make some changes, change the Name field, then do a Save As, the plugin still shows up as the name of the original file in my host app. So instead, I have to open a file, select all, copy, and paste into a new blank file, assign the name in the Name field, and save. What a pain!

Am I the only one seeing this bug?

Thanks!!!

I installed one blank window as "test1" AU plug-in.Its subtype was "!EU?".
I opened the "test1" , changed the name to"test2" (the subtype was still "!EU?") and installed as AU.
In Finder , "test2.component" existed.But LogicExpress couldn't recognize it.

Then I installed new blank window as "test2"(subtype:"2f#j"),now Logic could recognize the new one.

I opened the "test1" , changed the nme to "test3",also changed the subtype to "!EU;" and installed as AU.
Now Logic could recognize it.

You can do the same ,but note that every plug-in's subtype must be "unique".

In addition,Sonicbirth only selects subtype in random. So the subtype-duplication problem can be caused in some(rare?) case.

Thanks, tatsf! That was the problem all along, it just didn't register in my ancient brain. Now I can open a patch, modify it, tweak the subtype code, export to AU, and voila... both appear in the host list.

By the way, an easy way to get a new subtype code is to open a new window and copy it out of there.

Thanks again!!

Oh! That's a good idea. I'll do it.
Thanks.
