Hello All:
How do I play a groove from within stylus rmx that continues playing while i play the keyboard with other vst instruments.
If I instantiate a stylus rmx groove I can get it started from within the stylus graphical editor, but my keyboard will also trigger those drum samples individually.
I'd like to setup my controller (yamaha motif xs) to start the groove, but don't play the individual drum samples from my keyboard.
Hope this makes sence.
thanks!!!
receptor and stylus rmx

In case you don't mind a couple of speculative ideas from someone who hasn't actually tried this at home:
There are two Midi modes in Stylus: Groove Menu and Slice Menu. In Groove Menu mode, you will hear the entire loop when you hold down a key, but it will stop when you release the key. Maybe you could program some control surface to send a key on to start Stylus and a key off to stop it.
Or you could try playing a sequence in Slice menu mode. In slice menu mode, each slice is assigned to an individual key. So to play the loop, you need to play each of the slices in order, which is an ascending C major scale. However, it must also be in the right rhythm. You get a sequence of the right notes in the right rhythm in the "drag & drop" box. By dragging and dropping the midi file in into your host sequencer, you get a sequence of the right notes in the right rhythm.
I haven't worked with the motif, but I assume you could set the on board sequencer to repeat a loop. So, it would just be a matter of getting the drag & drop sequence into your motif somehow. If you have Stylus RMX running on a DAW on a computer, I assume you could drag and drop the midi file into you DAW, and then have the Motif record the sequence from your DAW. Or, maybe your DAW could save it as an SMF file which could be imported into the Motif sequencer.
I haven't tried any of the above, but I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work.
