Can you raise a support ticket at http://smproaudio.helpserve.com
as I can send you the default.fxp file that I am using as it really is working perfectly here on my system and I am interested in finding out why it does not on your setup.

You've already sent me the file, and I'm already using this one.MatthewSkinner wrote:Can you raise a support ticket at http://smproaudio.helpserve.com

LOL. I feel your pain.really I dont have the force to continue on this box.
Tried to run one bank with minimogue and lightbag. It used ALL the cpu. Couldn't even use the pitchbend without problems. So i make the same offer delafuerte did; €400,-.I'd like to know from other machiners, what kind of bank have u been able to create?

soundfonts: if I like a plug's sound but the preset can't handle to load the plug cpu-wise, I sample the sound and play it with a sampler... a pain to have to do so, but it works...delafuerte wrote:Good!mon8169 wrote:
I have one bank with:
B4II
DVS Guitar
GTG NK1001
Samplelord with 3 soundfonts
they are in the same preset, different midi channels and it reaches 90% cpu and plays without any click
another bank with:
B4II
2 x Minimogue
GTG NK1001

Which soundfonts did u use???
So far I've tried a bank with VB3 and truepianos (different midi channels), but its not playable, cuz when u play the piano u get cpu overload and glitch almost immediatly!!!
The same result with a bank with Sample Tank Piano and VB3 in two different midi channels but in this case seems to be more difficult to get distorsion; note that the problem is always affecting just the piano if play chords repeatedly with sustain (I do this cuz I wanna be sure to have no problem during a live situation).
In both banks VB3 works perfectly with no click.
I'm gonna try the same test with NI B4II.
Until now I've not been brave enough to try two VST in the same midi channel
I think that in your problem with truepianos, nobody told you to deactivate the reverb and/or string ressonance. Have you try it?
B4II needs a lot less cpu than VB3. VB3 is something like 60% when playing, while B4II is something like 20-30% (if I remember well).

I did use a fxp file sent me from the support, so I think it should work but it doesn't!!
The string resonance has been deactivated for sure, becouse it was an essential step to do in order to load it.
I dont remember the reverb, but I'm almost sure is not active.
I also noticed that B4 is less "expansive" than VB3...
This situation remind me what's happening with Iphone...we had to wait until OS.3 just to send MMS and have cut and paste function avaiable!!!

i'm playing final countdown live with this sound on the vmachine. works perfectly, i just had to adjust the delay effect from 10sec. to 3sec.Vstream wrote:ZioKiller wrote:The P8 preset Final Countdown: 6 notes polyphony, on the Vmachine 1 or 2 at the most!
i really don't understand the discussions - what did you expect from a box like this in comparison to receptor. for me personally: running p8, pro53, b4II and hq orchestral came up to my expectations.

And how many polyphony with a 10 second delay effect? 2 at the max.klausl wrote:Vstream wrote:i'm playing final countdown live with this sound on the vmachine. works perfectly, i just had to adjust the delay effect from 10sec. to 3sec.ZioKiller wrote:The P8 preset Final Countdown: 6 notes polyphony, on the Vmachine 1 or 2 at the most!![]()

I nevercompared this with as receptor. It's just not honest Sm pro says this Vmachine is comparable with a 2 Ghz Processor, it's not. A Pentium III 450 Mhz is faster with same latency settings! Wine takes to much resources. There is nothing you can do about it.
Just install and play the Crystal synth (the one as printed on the Vmachines carbon box)...just play it. It chokes.
I understand that the Vmachine is a great vsti player for players using windcontrollers, mono sounds, Samplelord, and other very simple vsti's. Sm Pro should at least publish the maximum polyphony on the wizard page. (with effects on because an effect canmake or trash the sound.
If you are happy with you Vmachine then it's great and I'm happy for you.
I was told on a "Musicfair" in Germany the end of last year, 2 weeks before the V-machine was released it easily could play two vsti's at the same time like P8 together with FM8. Strange....as there still is no wizard file and registration possibility for FM8. How did they do that?

SM Pro Audio cannot declare maximum polyphony, because that depends from plugin to plugin, how it uses resources etc. So you can't expect them to declare maximum polyphony for all plugins!
FM8 uses challenge-response system so it needs NI's support in making a program that will enable V-machine to correctly install FM8.

I can play 4 notes without any issue, using the preset as it is.Vstream wrote:

I wonder why different users have different experiences using the same vst and V-Machine. Maybe SM Pro can tell us why???
What buffer do you use?
Do you play the vst from Stick or directly from the V-Machine?
When I'm at home I'll take a look at mine and also will try the Truepiano again, as I don't remember having such bad experiences as Delafuerte has.

Yes also playing the preset Jump doesn't give any problem, but try to use the preset Chariots and tell me how many notes you can play.klausl wrote: i'm playing final countdown live with this sound on the vmachine. works perfectly, i just had to adjust the delay effect from 10sec. to 3sec.![]()

I expect that every instrument plays like is expected to be played!!!klausl wrote: i really don't understand the discussions - what did you expect from a box like this in comparison to receptor. for me personally: running p8, pro53, b4II and hq orchestral came up to my expectations. klaus
I cant play piano like a monophonic synth!
So its obvious that it needs more polyphony.
"free your VST" that's what SM commercial says; it comes with 4 vst instrument slots, so its expected to run max 4 vst...we can discuss a lot about which VST and with which polyphony, but here we're having an argument just to run a simple piano (and not Ivory or NI Acoustic piano....).
If I see a wizard file of truepianos on their website, I expect I'd be able to play it like a piano is expected to be played.
But when I'm told that I also need an external disk to play it decently, this makes me really disappointed.
If I see a wizard file of pianoteq, I expect it works....then when I know from the support that I'll need the upcoming V-rack to play it becouse V-Machine is not powerful enough this really makes me anger.
It's all a question of honesty

Buffer size is 256 samples, for both plugs.mon8169 wrote:I can play 4 notes without any issue, using the preset as it is.Vstream wrote:

Truepiano runs without any clipping. I see that holding the sustain down, the cpu meter increases with each note played until it reaches 100% and stays there, but I can still play the piano with sustain down and no clipping or cpu overload occurs.

Question to SM Pro Audio, just to get an idea where it goes in the future:
1. What exact type of cpu is in there?
2. Is the CPU actually upgradable, is it replacable? I've read somewhere in this thread that it's soldered to the board
3. If not, is there any chance to push it to better performance by an improved os and better wine in the future?
You say it's an 1ghz model, and it was told that the performance would be comparable to a 2ghz running windows (which would be very usable), but based on my own experience so far with some plugins I know it's about comparable to a 500mhz cpu
Would be great to know what can REALLY be expected for the future, or otherwise to know that the current limits have to be accepted and so invest the energy to get the best out of it (it's a nice box otherwise)

i'm waiting for transpose fuction from December and always is:
In a few days...
It's a very fast support service but not effective.
i'm going to put my v-machine into wardrobe for a time.

It really shoud be very easy to implement so I HOPE it will be avaiable in the next update.
