I heard a sound similar to the opening effect synth-sound in Tom Sawyer somewhere in the presets of Sylenth1 (first note/beat in the song), but it wasn't totally there, it was a bit like it, but can anyone get that sound?

Might just need a little tweeking on the one I was mentioning, if I could find it again that is.

Plus, anyone want to take a try at the lead sound (mini moog I think) Geddy uses right before the guitar solo? I think he now uses a Little Phatty on stage to get the same sound:

I'm loving the sylenth1 - great work!

I'm not very good at making sounds, and I would be very grateful if you could help me with this lead. I appreciate it may be a bit difficult to hear, with he other pad sounds in the sample.

Use the modwheel to open the filter.

Hi i have just uploaded a free preset for you all from my new Sylenth soundbank which im working on now.This will be one of the free presets anyway.
Preset name is : SEQ - Reactivate 8
The preset has lots of modulation routing assigned to different controllers.I have composed a 32bar mp3 loop to show the patch being tweaked whilst giving you all a basic idea of what the next bank will contain.

Hey Rob, I heard the mp3, sounds great! I'm also downloading the preset now, that's a keeper.

With that new bank you're working on, any chance of recreating some with a 1970-80's sound in leads/pads?

For example.. Jan Hammer (from his Jeff Beck days), Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, and Geddy Lee, Geddy wasn't in the league with those others as a player, but has some great sounds. "Red Sector A" has a few cool sounds...that Signals/Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows time period was great for his synth stuff.

I have a lot of older synth stuff already in the form of Sampletank2/SonikSynth2, but it would be great to hear them recreated (and then some!) with the great sound of Sylenth instead of just being a sample.

part a
saw wave/set octave to -1

part b
saw wave/leave octave at 0

set parts a+b on page a to 1 voice each

turn on mono legato and turn up portamento to 5.19

phaser frequency = 1.05 dry/wet = 33.33%

lfo 1 set to sine wave/rate 8T/gain between 3-4.00/offset 0.00

underneath lfo 1 assign pitch a/value +0.10

now set sylenth to 1 note poly

bend range 7


now you can fiddle with the reverb/delay/filters till you get the sound you want..

ahh nice tune..i used to play this stuff in magalluf 1990 joe bannanas at 4am
again the settings are easy and nearly the same as the last one i posted except this time turn off the phaser and crank up the chorus till you get the feedback

this is the stuff i'll be releasing later in the year..what i used to call good old balearic stuff

it has now come back known as dutch house in 2009...producers such as Chuckie, Laidback luke, alvaro, fedirico franchi all use similar saw synth and i love it!
