Thanks once again, I'll give it a work out later. I wish there was a better patch librarian other than the Novation's. Half the time it doesn't work loading or sending the sounds and you can't drag and drop so you can better organize the banks. I use Midiox to send and receive individual sounds. Sad thing is the Novation Xio editor doesn't load the sysex patches. Creating sound banks from chosen sounds is rather tedious.

do you know, has one been made for X-station?
I haven't seen anything.

BIG-BIG Thanks Jemap!!!
Thanks this userfull tool! Just one thing, i know "X²SD is not a vst controller", but you use Synthmaker to build this. Saveas vst is just a button in this software no? Or maybe if you release the source, the users whos know SynthMaker can add more n more things!
Thanks your work!

Hi Piroman, about a vst version, you are right and you are wrong.
You are right:
Vst is just a click away in Synthmaker, so I already made it and I will put it on line this afternoon.
You are wrong:
Vst version won't work !
1/ Daws don't allow sysex messages passing through any vst effect or instrument.
They are simply stopped.
You won't be able to send a current sound dump to the Xio sound designer in order to see all the current sound parameters.
Another solution would be creating a special vst version where midi from XioSynth could be directly connected within Xio sound designer, allowing sysex to be directly received without passing through the daw, but we'll loose Xio midi connections within the daw itself...
2/ XioSynth parameters are almost NRPNs midi messages which are two messages for one parameter :
first for NRPN number, second for value ; it will be twice difficult to create a useable automation.
Furthermore, a single XioSynth NRPN number can control several parameters, according to its following control change value.
Xio sound designer has been made for sound designing, not realtime automations.
However, I think the standalone version can receive automations via midi Yoke from a daw, but it won't send back anything to XioSynth (no midi thru connection).
I tested the vst version in Ableton Live 7, created an mouse-drawn automation in a midi clip and saw knobs moving in Xio sound designer but without transmitting anything to hardware XioSynth.
Recording a XioSynth knob mouvement becomes a simple midi control change automation, without any Xio sound designer reaction.
Trying to record a Xio sound designer knob mouvement has failed : nothing occurs in the midi clip because the vst is after the track.
I keep working on the vst idea.
I've already started to work on a sound browser/bank organizer.

+1 for the Vst plugin
+10 for the preset browser!
No seriously, this is becoming a great piece of software and a real help in programming the Xio. And, just a bit of coding i hope, could you add a enable all randomizer Rs? Or even better make one for every section, eg osc1 osc2 osc3 aso...
Ok, I don't even think this is possible with vst, but here goes my wet dream:
Would it be able to code a plugin that uses the Xio as synth (as a vst and with another audio interface) and have the software record ("freeze") the tracks automatically, so you can add another xio voice, but if you want to change the preset you could just load it into the xio, change it and record it again?

JustJ,
adding randomize markers by section is a so good idea : thank you.
I've just added them on top-right black labels of each section.
The files are updated on line (Xio²_sound_designer.exe and pdf manual).
I put your second idea on my checklist.

Yeah, now the Randomizing feature really rocks!
Just two small things, first, I like the idea that the section randomize control inverts the random toggles on each parameter every time you click it. Imho it would still be more practical that if you press it once, every random swich gets swiched on and if you press it again, every swich gets swiched off.
This is what I generally do with it: If I want to randomize the osc sections, but still get a harmonic tone out of it, I swich the whole section on and swich every semitone off. If I get a tone I like out of it, I disable the whole section with the section swich, but forget to swich the semitone paramemter (that is now swiched on) off, which gets some not really harmonic results the next time I use randomize.
And the other thing, for changeing the sound just a bit, the relative randomize function is great, but if you change the rand level to 100% you often get values stuck in a corner. So maybe it would be possible to add a absoulut random feature, that changes every value with no respect to previous values.
And , if I could wish for another thing, could you include a undo randomize feature? If you have a great sound, but like rand just a bit of the sound, sometimes it goes in the wrong direction, and setting back 20 parameters is a pain, you can guess where ...
But anyway, despite my curent nagging, I think this piece of software is really becoming something great, I'm really using the Xio as synth in my songs again, as the editing has become so much easier.
So, all in all, a Big thank you from me for all the efford you put into this up to now. You really added alot of value to every Xio out there.

Jemap! Thanks to try the vst. The standalone version is 1000 times better than nothing. The vst is just the maximum. Anyway thanks your work, because with this tool i make sound much more faster!!!
I can't belive Novation:) Build a usb soundcard integrated synth like this without vst or editor soft???. Novation is not a marketing master, because with software the xio is a "smaller" alternative of virus ti.
I buy my used xio 49 for 200 dollar, hehe. I have before virus, korg, nord, alesis, blabla.. and this xio is realy good for this price.
I think novation sales 10 times beter if have softwares like yours. So make your software perfect and sale to novation!!!!
Sorry my english:)
Booom!!!

Yes, please. I tried to build the same tool using both Logic Environment and Max MSP while ago, but no luck, too much patience required for this...Muzik 4 Machines wrote:a mac version would be greatly appreciated

New version 2.2 available.
Thanks to JustJ's suggestions :
- randomize algorithm rewritten.
- new section randomize "R" markers behaviour (whole section switches on/off)
- added unlimited randomize undos : just right-click on red randomize button.
- added counter of randomize operations on top of the red randomize button.
- pdf manual and inner help message updated.
Link : http://chemidistry.webs.com/editors.htm
Sorry : no Mac version planned as long as SynthMaker is Windows OS only.
Patches browser/organiser in progress...
