Can You Recommend Acoustic Drum Kits for Receptor?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a high-quality "acoustic" drum kit(s) VSTi that is current; that is, available to buy today, AND that works on my Receptor Pro (not 2 Pro or Pro Max). I'm not interested in playing loops, I just want the sounds so I can trigger them from my TrapKat or sequenced TrapKat performance. I already own Superior Drummer 2.0 and Addictive Drums, and neither of them are installable on Receptor. I can't get any word out of Muse on when/if those will ever be useable, so I need to move on to something else.
Is Battery 3 a viable option? Are there at least a couple of decent acoustic kits included?
Are there any other options?
Thanks for any advice you can provide. I'm hoping some of you have blazed this trail already!

Addictive should be installable - if you have the disc labeled 1.0 that actually has 1.1.1 on it, Muse are aware. Though you wanted it installable today, I'm told that the tech has it working and it will be released soon. Though the Amplitube series installers were also coming "soon" and even though they preinstall those on the one model they can't release installers to us. Anyway...
Battery was good when I played with it, and I plan on getting it and triggering it with V-Drums. JRRShop had a great deal on them recently and probably still do. You can try the http://www.analoguedrums.com Battery-mapped kits, I plan on using those too.

Thanks for the info, buscemi! My situation with Addictive Drums is exactly that which you described, so it's good news that there may be a solution on its way - someday. If you have any more info on that, feel free to PM me or point me to a thread if it was discussed there.
The Analogue Drums look interesting too. I don't currently have the Battery 2 or Kontakt 2 samplers, though, so I'm not sure how that would work out.
Again, thanks for the info!

Yeah! My favorite topic! Drums on Receptor!batgab wrote:Hi everyone,

You can run any of the following:
BFD 1.5
BFD Lite
Superior 1.5.4
Battery 3
Addictive Drums 1.0
Ocean Way Drums Gold
Pretty much any Kontakt-based drum library
As for which one is best for your application, that's the beauty of software... you can probably find the one that exactly right for the style of music you are playing.
From my experience, I find that they ALL have a lot to offer, and each one appeals to me in a different way. I do some electronic drum gigs every once in a while using a DrumTech pad kit going through a DrumKat, and what I'll do is use a BFD kit on some songs, then over to DFH for others, and I like Addictive drums a LOT because it is super efficient (it can run at 32 sample buffers on Receptor... way fast). Just recently I've "discovered" Battery 3, and I have to say I really really like the interface, and I was surprised how great the sounds were... and I'm very surprised there aren't more third party kits for it to be honest. Overall, I'd have to say we're spoilt for choice as the expression goes.
And if that wasn't enough, BFD 2.0 is coming on Receptor V 1.8 software, as is EZ Drummer and hopefully we can get Superior 2.0 working as well pretty soon. At the NAMM show, we had Ocean Way Drums running on a Receptor 2 PRO MAX, and it was nothing short of astounding... And you might want to be aware that on a RECEPTOR PRO (not Receptor 2) you can run OWD Gold as well, but it complete dominates the device so you won't be able to run anything else at the same time.. but its worth it!
Cheers

Groovology, thanks for the update and info. SInce I already own TT Superior 2.0 and Addictive Drums 1.1.1 I would be most interested to know when THEY will work on Receptor and what OS and hardware configuration would be required. (I can predict your stock answer for the availability date, but I had to ask anyway. It can't be that complicated to share your plan, can it?) In fact, add Superior 2.1 to that list since it just came out.
I think Muse has been promising Superior 2.0 compatibility for more than a year now; it's time to make it happen!
Is Receptor v1.8 software dependent on the the new hardware, or could I install it on my existing R Pro? When would it be available?

I've had great good luck using BFD 1.5 and Battery 3 on Receptor - both work great. Very glad to hear that BFD 2 will be running on Receptor with the forthcoming OS update.

Yes, waiting for the AD 1.1.1 installer here too. Seems like Receptor and a set of V-Drums is an awesome combination though I'd never know because the drum products I have don't run on it!
I've got Battery 3 on the way though so hopefully that will be easy to get set up on Receptor and triggered with the V-Drums.

Yes, I see OW Drums Gold is direct installable on the "What's New at Plugorama" page here: http://www.plugorama.com/customer/home.php Now, I ALSO see that Addictive Drums is there too (scroll down a little...). So, does that mean Addictive Drums 1.1.1 is now, finally installable? (Since it say's "What's New...", I assume it does.) My fingers are crossed....

The current situation with Superior 2.0 is that it installs, apparently makes sounds, but when you open up the edit pages it crashes. That would probably be because there is a graphics call it is making that LInux doesn't like, which is strange because from what I've heard, EZ Drummer is working fine in 1.8 (at least that's what I've heard, and I know the demo version does, since I tested it myself, which is a good sign). I haven't spoken to Andreas or Matteus about this yet, but I'll send them over a mail and see what they think.batgab wrote:Groovology, thanks for the update and info.

I have no idea what the deal is with AD 1.1.1, and in fact I don't even know what the difference is, so I'd better get my self clued in and pronto.
As for general software compatibility, 1.8 is an entirely new version of Linux, so compatibility moving into the future is much improved, but we are still on our first release so I imagine that once we get a rev or 2 under our belt then you'll see Superior 2.0 working very soon. I hope so, because I very much want to use it on my unit!
Cheers

Great news on the possibility of Superior 2! As far as Addictive 1.1.1 is concerned: If you'd like, I could PM my ticket number where the tech discusses the status of it so you can get the info from them?

I've also recently discovered Battery3 as it came with my Komplete 5 bundle. The UI is deep but fairly easy once you get the hang of it, and a few of the acoustic kits are surprisingly good. I generally like working with loops in Stylus RMX but have no problem adding hits or whole arrangements using Battery + DrumKAT.
