Any chance of implementing this in Zebra?

It's more difficult than it sounds. Because the envelopes are embedded within the voice structure and the voice structure uses them to determine if a voice is playing or not. I'm extremely reluctant towards any surgical efforts within these structures...

I usually just program a note in the DAW and loop that. Alternatively, my MIDI keyboard has a "latch" button with which the last keys pressed can be held.

Fair enough. I guess it's easy to forget that what seems to be happening in the GUI is probably not how it works under the hood.

In that case, would it be possible to instead have Zebra generate a sort of "faux" continuous MIDI input (a bit like a test tone, but which would be MIDI instead of audio) which could be switched on and off? ImpOSCar has a key "hold" button, for example, which works fine for this purpose.

(Unfortunately, my keyboard doesn't have a "latch" button, and setting up a loop from the DAW will periodically retrigger the envelopes etc., which is not always desirable when setting up a basic OSC sound).

I don't know yet. We'll see... I have plenty of time to think about that because there are so many other things to be done first...

That's fine if you're happy to sit with your foot for extended periods on a non-latching pedal. Personally, I find that both awkward and inconvenient which is another reason why I think that adding a latching on-screen hold button would be a useful improvement.

Hi Urs,

I just discovered some things I think you should know about:

1. As far as I can see, there doesn't seem to be a link to the Transmission page of your website from either the Zebra or the u-he home page (so I wouldn't have discovered it at all were it not for this forum!). Also the link to the transmission audio demo just goes to the LUG home page (and not to the mp3 file mentioned).

2. The documentation about installing skins in the Transmission maunual is out-of-date (talks about replacing the original files etc.). After much trial and error, I discovered that you can just drop new skins into the support folder, but it would be helpful if this were explained in both the Zebra and Transmission manuals.

3. Zebra2 and Transmission are great!

Well there are a few other ways of doing it as well:
- Assign a knob/slider of your midi controller to CC64 and use that instead then.
- Or any midi plug in that allows you to send CC messages,
- Or send CC64 using your daw?

Thanks for your suggestions. I agree that these are all reasonable workarounds but still (IMHO) not as convenient as it would be to just click a hold button built into Zebra itself.

If it is going to be a while, sometimes I turn off midi in Live with the sustain pedal down and then I can let go of the sustain pedal.

Thanks - I hadn't thought of that. Alternatively, I suppose I could also pull out the MIDI lead (or turn off the power to the keyboard) with the sustain pedal down and then let go. Neither of these is quite as straightforward as a simple hold button though, methinks. Anyway, I'll leave it there - don't want to be a bore about it.
