What's going on with this...? Bug?

SFZ+ is a multitimbral SF2 player. It supports 16 MIDI channels.

I load up a General MIDI soundfont. I want to record some drums.

In GM, that means recording events on Channel 10. Now MU.LAB will record events on any channel and put them into a sequence; it's on play back I need those events to be on Channel 10. But I also want to hear them correctly whilst playing.

So... I want to set the target Channel for recording. I don't see a way to do that.

I give up. I create a new sequence part. I want to set the target Channel for the sequence part. Right-click on the part doesn't have anything. I have to go into the list editor and use the "Options" menu. Not ideal but it means I can hear drums when I trigger SFZ+. Seems good.

So I hit record and play a track.

Oh dear -- on playback, it's ignoring the target Channel!

It also seems to "forget" the target Channel quite easily - just closing the part and opening another, I think, lost the target.

If you have set a track target, it's the track target that defines the MIDI channel. So right-click the track and "Choose MIDI Channel".

If you did not set a track target, then it's the same story, but on part level.

Does this help?

Argh, I searched for that, I'm sure! OK, thanks! :oops: Works now... :)

Hmm. When I insert Bank and Program Change messages at the start of a sequence, MU.LAB pauses on playback -- the playback cursor halts briefly.

<edit>
Ah... This appears to be SFZ+ specific - SFZ doesn't exhibit this behaviour: it just reset the Bank to zero whenever it receives Bank Select messages!!
