Is the delay distorting or just squashing the audio when the width knob is set fully to the right?

Wow, the Soundscaper can make things snares sound like strings
Andy, do you want me to keep editing this post or post as a new reply everytime?

It should just affect the Stereo Width, is it distorting?
I think a new reply because at least I get informed that way
I've almost finished the Lite version now, which has a limited sample set but most other features intact.

I can't really tell, I'm not sure if its where the sound waves are overlayed at the start of each hit or if there is genuine distortion. I'm guessing its the former because it's only happening at an extreme setting but it looks like this:Astralp wrote:It should just affect the Stereo Width, is it distorting?

And sounds like this in isolation - turn your speakers down first
Delay/Distortion?

More Devil's advocate/complete idiot time

Is it too late to add a feature request for control+click to centre all knobs?
Stoopid Lickel Kwestyuns #3
Is the Filter Feedback set too high. Highest setting gives high pitched squealing which overpowers everything else but 1 step before doesn't.
Stoopid Lickel Kwestyuns #4
Is the FX Mix knob now working inversely for the compressor? Turning left to right causes sound to decrease and then cut out.
Stoopid Lickel Kwestyuns #5
I'll be the first to admit that compressors are a black art to me, but it seems to cause sound ruffles and clicks on bassier sounds. Low threshold with a high ratio.
Stoopid Lickel Kwestyuns #6
I'd still like to see a double Clock Tempo setting for more elaborate single bar loops, unless I'm missing something blindingly obvious apart from setting the host tempo at twice what you want the loop tempo to be.
You'll be pleased to know I'm taking a rest now, my ears are ringing from having a kick or snare playing non-stop for the last few hours. I'm off to investigate genre drum cliches...

Double clicking already does this or do you mean something else?Az're-ul wrote:More Devil's advocate/complete idiot time

To me this is a feature, for instance when using the Mod Sequencer directly to Filter, you can create some great Resonance Loops :)Also it is only really an issue with Cascade x2 for the most part I think? It probably isn't much use without the compressor/limiter though.Az're-ul wrote: Is the Filter Feedback set too high. I couldn't make this happen, did you have the master FX button switched off in which case there will be no sound on the right FX side of the mix?Az're-ul wrote: Is the FX Mix knob now working inversely for the compressor? Turning left to right causes sound to decrease and then cut out.
Yes it can, try increasing the release and attack times which should smooth it out.Az're-ul wrote: I'll be the first to admit that compressors are a black art to me, but it seems to cause sound ruffles and clicks on bassier sounds. Low threshold with a high ratio.
OK I'll this, I removed it because at such high clock rates and high BPM it can become a bit unreliable, but we'll see how it goesAz're-ul wrote: I'd still like to see a double Clock Tempo setting for more elaborate single bar loops, unless I'm missing something blindingly obvious apart from setting the host tempo at twice what you want the loop tempo to be.
Lol, your input has been remarkable, you were also right about the delay distortion, I've fixed that in the next release. You are a great beta tester, there's no sweeping dirt under the carpet.... lolAz're-ul wrote: You'll be pleased to know I'm taking a rest now, my ears are ringing from having a kick or snare playing non-stop for the last few hours. Oh and I think the dancing lady paradigm actually means great fortune and wisdom after all maybe??

Yeah I can see its use, it's just that one step between on or off though...Astralp wrote:To me this is a feature, for instance when using the Mod Sequencer directly to Filter, you can create some great Resonance Loops :)Also it is only really an issue with Cascade x2 for the most part I think? Hmmm. A little more information - it happens when the compressor is the only effect on as far as I can see. I've been using this preset to test Rockish just in case its some setting I've buggered upAstralp wrote:I couldn't make this happen, did you have the master FX button switched off in which case there will be no sound on the right FX side of the mix?Az're-ul wrote: Is the FX Mix knob now working inversely for the compressor? As I said compressors are like Black Magic, see what I did there?Astralp wrote:Yes it can, try increasing the release and attack times which should smooth it out.Az're-ul wrote: I'll be the first to admit that compressors are a black art to me, but it seems to cause sound ruffles and clicks on bassier sounds. Perhaps best not to add something that might be unstable, there are always work arounds...Astralp wrote:OK I'll this, I removed it because at such high clock rates and high BPM it can become a bit unreliable, but we'll see how it goesAz're-ul wrote: I'd still like to see a double Clock Tempo setting for more elaborate single bar loops, unless I'm missing something blindingly obvious apart from setting the host tempo at twice what you want the loop tempo to be.

Ahh I see, yep even though the compressor is amongst the effects it is very different because it happens as a master effect, just before the main outputs so the FX Mix will have no effect on it. The main 3 effects are like send and returns in the real world and so the FX Mix will mix between dry and the summed output of those effects make sense?

Black magic Lite beta 01 is up, I'd like some feedback on this as mentioned in the email if anyone gets the chance

Andy, the first and most major thing I've noticed is that it doesn't make a noise, might be importantAstralp wrote:Black magic Lite beta 01 is up, I'd like some feedback on this as mentioned in the email if anyone gets the chance
Second thing is that its crashed in both EXT 2 & FL 8 - samples not showing in main LCD screen in FL Studio

did you extract the samples as well Steve?
should be:
\Black magic Lite.dll
\BM Samples\
its working fine here unfortunately...
could you try putting the samples into the 'Black Magic Lite' Folder that gets created after first load to see if that makes a difference?

Sorry Andy - yep I extracted the samples at the same time. I tried putting the samples in the SEM folder still to no avail. Also tried recreating the BM file structure.Astralp wrote:did you extract the samples as well Steve?

In case its related hitting the default button for the sample in the main LCD gives a completely blank entry
A Quick thought - the samples don't have to be in the HGSounds directory do they?

No I kept it simple for the Lite so it just had to be extracted, I'll make a debug version that logs the expected path to a text file if you can give that a go?
