Recovery Mode

Of course, the night before a practice my Receptor is acting up.
It is stuck in a loop of Startup failed, Receptor Recovery. I've tried Reset, Restart, and Shutdown. I've removed everything connecting to the unit, and I'm running V1.7. Nothing will get it booted up yet.
Any help will be much appreciated.

I just ran the check disk from the recovery menu. It did not help.

Personally, I use mine in the studio for the most part but it would be tremendous if Muse offered some level of support for touring/gigging folks at a premium. As a systems administrator, I always have the option to purchase 24/7 support with servers, operating systems and some software - so it seems a similar concept to me to offer something similar for mission critical use of Receptor.
Not that this helps your issue, apologies for that.

buscemi, I agree with the support. I am hoping with the advent of the VMachines rack, that competition will spur on better support and innovation.
My backup keyboard is a 1974 Rhodes Suitcase, and that seems to be the most robust keyboard I have. I just hate carrying it!

I have had this problem happen when 2 MIDI controllers were plugged into the Receptor before I hit the power button. When I powered up with just one controller plugged in startup went fine. You wrote that you have disconnected everything from the Receptor, so this may not be helpful! II hope you get things resolved.

I wonder if a loose connection to any of the IO could cause this. receptor doesn't see one of it's devices and gets stuck during boot
A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes.

Does recovery mode allow any file access? System log (the Receptor one) and the actual linux log (in /var/log/messages likely, would have to be near mine to check as it could vary) might give some good info.

Well its working again... I left it unplugged overnight. But the first few boots it was defaulting to the first preset. Now it seems to be remembering my last presets.
Hopefully I can coax it into working for one band practice...

How long does it take for Muse to answer support tickets on plugorama normally? Its been four days and no response.

My experience has been mixed; I've gotten almost immediate responses to a couple of items but, unfortunately, very slow and no responses to others. I have no idea why. I have a couple in the queue right now that I'd really like to get responses to...

I spoke too soon! I heard back from Muse today on one of my support tickets - they had responded this morning just before I posted; guess I should've checked there first!
jackqdeezn, I would guess (and hope) that Muse will respond soon for your clearly Receptor-specific issue. Good luck!

Muse fixed my problem over the phone. Turned out one of the log files ate up the whole hard drive just like buscemi said. I'm back up and running again, hopefully this won't happen again.
Although this made me realize I need a backup solution that doesn't weigh 150 pounds, and fits in my car. So I bought a V-machine today and plan on installing it with Keyperformer from GSI. I thought about two Receptors, but that's over my budget, and there is something to be said about diversity of software/hardware so one bug doesn't take out an entire rig.

Key Performer seems wonderful. It seems it would run well on V-Machine, but that unit just doesn't give me good vibes. Seems like a great backup and I wouldn't be surprised if I picked one of for a song when they drop more. Good luck!
Hmmm, I'm not sure I pinpointed the SIZE of the log files so don't give me too much credit
That does remind me that there are some basic Linux administrative tasks that shouldn't be overlooked (like out-of-control log files, which should technically be in their own partition and should not impact the rest of the system when full on a good Linux system). I might have to poke around mine to see what's going on in that area. I'm sure Muse got it right on almost everything but it is still worth a look. It did take a while for that "skip automatic checks" thing to come along
