Since 2.31 I'm using the preinstalled version of Zebra2 and it is MUCH more comfortable to use (I had to migrate to another PC, just copied the whole folder and everything was ready in the new PC, including the ton of third party presets I had installed).

Probably it's not a priority (or is it for receptor) but I'd love seeing soon similar packages for Filterscape and MFM; is there any chance?

Thanks,
Mario

There's a preinstalled version? Is that the Receptor version?

I'm working on this for all other plugins...

:) Looking forward to "preinstall" them :)

Thanks a lot,
Mario

P.S. Urs, I'd like to update the Zebra manual, but, for what I can see in the online version, it's not up to date with V2.3.1; if and when it gets updated, please contact me so that I can also update the PDF accordingly, of course if it's ok for you.

I've been waiting for a version to buy that doesn't do all that sexual assaulting on my windows folders too. Yay for simple .DLL's!!

Perhaps to use dll and simple in the same sentence is somewhat confusing

I didn't think it was confusing at all. At their bare minimum, VST plugins are single .dll files with no other file dependencies (as everything is contained within the DLL). To me that is simple (and good).

Well, unfortunately I don't do simple plugins... And I don't like to spend most of my development time setting up Visual Studio so that it can cope with the ever changing number of png files (as opposed to bmp files, which I don't use).

As a developer who currently maintains 63 plugins (no kidding, not counting abandoned ones), it was just a no-go to work with this kind of overhead, hence I decided to leave the graphics on the harddrive, together with presets, preferences and registrations. In turn I also don't touch the Registry.

Cheers,

;) Urs

Well, as long as there's a version that doesn't forcibly create folders in locations I can't choose myself or change, I'll be happy. And not touching the registry is a definite plus, too.

It's either Registry *or* having folders you can't choose. Which with my stuff is either in Program Files or in Vstplugins ;)

I'm confused :)
I'm just hoping for something that works _without_ a folder in program files, etc. I don't understand why plugins can't just have all their stuff in one place in the same folder the .DLL is in? :help:

Exactly, just like Zebra2 preinstalled - I thought it just needs files in the dll folders and related subfolders; or is it writing to the registry? :|

Hehe, yes, pre-installed doesn't need Program Files nor Registry. But it's still a strict layout, nothing that one can actually choose from...

Strict layout is ok, just like all "portable applications".

You can anyway customize the preset subfolders at leisure, so this is strict as needed, but leaves freedom for presets; perfect for me :)
