I have some inspiration for a new plugin.
First off, I appologize if there is overlap with your current midi looper, which I really haven't yet explored very deeply.

The inspiration comes from this discussion:
http://www.sensomusic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=1473

And a nice example of the idea applied in Usine is shown here:
http://www.sensomusic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=1479

Although I haven't yet played with that Usine script, the way I envision this
working is that the plugin would monitor any incoming CC's and begin recording any particuar CC as soon as there were any any activity and then stop recording and begin playback of the CC movements as soon as no further activity were detected either at the beginning of the next bar or quantized to the nearest bar after no further activity detected(or maybe any user definable quantize settings?)
Obviously it would be awesome if the plugin would allow overdubbing of other CC's onto an existing CC loop.

Anyways this is something that seems like piz's-cup-o-tea + it would be a wicked performance tool so maybe this is a worthwhile suggestion?
Lets see...how about 'the repizzler' :D

Sounds like a job for Piz's Midilooper .
Just tried recording CC into it and it worked almost the same way you suggested.
Still have to see if a CC can trigger the record..

The fact that ML stops recording and automatically starts playing precisely in sync makes it perfect.

Well I'll be a.....dumbass! Apart from recording start and stop not being triggerable by incoming CC's (or the lack thereof) and the overdubbing of the same CC not working quite how I would like ,it is exactly as I described.
Off to the appropriate discussion to make some suggestions...thanks for showing me the way..!

[edit: and after actually scrolling down the whole Usine thread, I realize that the Usine patch was actually inspired by piz's looper. ]

Hmm... did a system-wide search turn up anything like a .so, .cpp, file? I wonder if its in some obscure directory, like var/log/tmp, etc?

Midi learn would be a neat feature =]

InsertPizHere,
Do you have a Linux-compiled version of midiKeySplit4 (midiKeySplit4.so perhaps?)? I unpacked the .zip archive tonight and got a .dll instead, but use XT under Linux all the time so I can work with ZynAddSubFX.

Thanks,

i don't know what happened before, but here is the linux version:

http://thepiz.org/xt/midiKeySplit4.tar.bz2

for midi learn, drag the split note below note 0, then play the note you want.

what's the latest release of your little midi plugins package? your release cycle is certainly too fast for your website :hihi:

Post

the latest one for windows is from march 28th. i don't know if i ever announced that... the mac and linux versions are still behind. the links in the first post in this thread and at http://thepiz.org/pizmidi will always be to the latest releases. eventually there will be a "major release" that will make all this somewhat more official.

Thanks again, Piz!

I'm testing things out tonight, and really like the results =]

There has only been one minor problem... when I scroll through the notes, I seem to skip right over 65(F) for some reason. It works fine for midi learn otherwise. You might want to check that out...

it will actually skip 28 notes, because XT2 only gives the sliders 101 values of resolution. any GUI-less plugin with more than 101 values on a parameter will have this problem.

Is that an "XT Only thing"? I would think sliders are supposed to go from 0 - 127 or 1 - 128, right?
