I'll consider options, including oversampling, but it'll probably be a year until this can happen.
No worries. Thanks for entertaining the argument at least.

Honestly some means of loading wavetables without clobbering modulation routings is a higher priority for me.

What spectrum software was use in the beggining of the thread?

It's the spectrum plugin in Live 7.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but would anybody check out the "renderer" options on the "more Osc" tabs of this otherwise top-secret build:

http://www.u-he.com/Zebra232Winstaller.zip

Can you hear/feel/see any difference?

Note: This is beta stuff. Don't get too excited or too disappointed just yet.

Cheers,

;) Urs

great timing! I just finished backing up my patch libary =) gonna give this one a spin then..

Funny thing - I can't notice any change in the sound regardless of the renderer used. Tried A/B'ing with 3x saw oscs and still didn't notice anything tangible (?)

A-ha! If I drown the sound with heavy distortion (which sometimes makes microscopic subtleties more noticeable) I can certainly hear a difference in the sound ;) But without distortion I can't hear any changes

I'm not convinced I'm hearing much of any difference. Maybe little stronger, bottom heavy on '1' and sort scooped a bit somewhere on '2', as opposed to '0'. It feels almost inaudible in the impulse-y bit of a new note, and near a figment of imagination after that. I tried to listen blindly while automating the parameter randomly on 1-bar intervals, guessing which was the last played . . . I was entirely unable to distinguish 0 and 2, fairly correct on 1, which might be dumb luck.

Me neither. But as the topic comes up every now and then ("Synth XY sounds better/warmer/stronger than Zebra because Zebra's oscillators sound too dull") I thought I'd give it a spin and see how it pans out ;)

Your time is better spent on getting Zebrify into public beta ;D Or then just take some time off, you know you deserve it!

I'll do a few more tests with distorting the signal and checking the differences anyway, just for fun.

Aww.. now I cannot hear any diffs even with distortion.. it was just the phases playing tricks with me... This can mean only one thing, I should be asleep already ;)

Couldn't hear any significant difference. But then again I only tried the renderers for 5 seconds or so, which was the time it took me to realize there was something else in there

I can definitely hear and see a difference. There's much more constant energy at 10k and above and this really opens up the sound a bit, taking off that dullness which is exactly the characteristic that I and other people have complained about in Z2.

I hope you leave this feature in!

I think I'm about to divide by zero in my pants.

Yes, and it sounds much better!

Out of interest, what's the difference between render mode 1 and 2?

I also definitely hear a difference. The highs are fuller and there is a kinda sheen to the sound I like. On some presets it is subtle, and on others quite distinct.

I also hope it is left in cause it sounds better!!!
