I've been looking for a good reverb to replace the one in Ableton. This sounds great although way more CPU intensive than Arts Acoustica, and as someone else mentioned has a long load time.
One thing I would like to see though would be the ability to make the dry/wet level stick when changing presets (unless this can already be done and I'm missing it). Maybe even the input level as well ... for some reason the sends on Ableton Live are very quiet. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong here but I've always had that problem with Ableton where I really need to crank the send levels or add a Utility FX before the send FX to boost it.
Anyway, this is a great product and I'll probably jump on the GB.

Hi.

You can click on the text title for mix, input gain, and Stereo mode, and they will turn orange/blue. (The titles themselves are hidden buttons basically.) When the titles are colored, the parameters are locked to the current setting and will no longer change when you browse presets.

This is exactly what you are asking for.

Great feature. But, to me it seems a bit awkward to have to deselect them again to be able to change their values. It's enough if they don't change when swapping patches but are still changeable with the mouse.

Any thoughts about this?

I tend to agree with you personally. Denis and I have been discussing this. We may change it in 1.1.

Awesome ... I'm in once I borrow/steal the funds.

I have just one request, although I'm not sure if it's possible or if you 2C guys would want to do it.

Do you think it might be possible to include an 'ECO' mode? By that I mean a lower quality setting to save cpu? Many reverbs have low/high quality settings and it's even common for the lower quality settings to have an interesting character of their own. For example the Ableton Reverb has an 'ECO' mode which can sound different and unique. Or the Arts Acoustic Reverb has a low quality setting (which I think actually sounds better) which takes it from using 5-6% to about 3% cpu. Aether tends to use 10% cpu even in mono mode. Putting it in stereo mode bumps it to 16-20%, so it could really use a cpu saving mode. Some synths that do this can really be a life saver on cpu. For example NI Massive has three settings which can really bring the cpu down and in some cases it don't even affect the sound much. Similarly I think Aether would really benefit from a lower quality mode, which could be handy while working on cpu heavy projects(and it could later be put to higher quality for bouncing for example), and it might even make for an interesting sound, who knows.

thanks

We are aware of such ideas. That's all I can say for now.

Cool. I also agree with allowing the locked controls to be moved manually when locked. (Ie. the locking should just apply to preset changing).

Signed up for the group buy, so I'm looking forward to a bright future for Aether.

cheers!

11th hour now guys... 11 hours to go for the group buy signup... and counting...

I just have to drop by and say I'm in  caused by the fact how :!: Aether is. Tops my list. Really incredible.

Understatement, bro

This is for you Galbanum,

Is there any plans to make it possible to control the knobs via midi interface in the future ?

I would also wish it did work better for real-time usage, sometimes when you change certain knobs you get certain unwanted digital noise sounds.
I work mainly with big long reverbs, my work flow when I record music is mostly in real-time, and I wish to be able to form the reverb
more in real-time.

I hope this will be implanted in the future, and thanks again for creating this software.

thanks guys.

The nature of the algorithm (and really most reverbs in general) result in some "discontinuities" when changing some parameters. This can result in a click or a pop for some parameters. This would barely be noticeable except for the fact that these click/pops are fed into the reverb engine, and so they can act like feeding an impulse (delta function) (single sample spike) into the reverb, and depending on the preset, this can translate to a fairly long decay.

We are investigating ways to minimize this more in future updates. We are also hoping to allow more parameters to be automated at fast rates without artifacts. Doing so may result in higher CPU usage however, so we must find a balance.

We do hope to offer various improvements to controller surfaces, MIDI controllers, mouse wheels, etc... We will provide more information as we are closer to completion of the 1.1 update.

BTW, The PDF manual specifies what can be automated, and what rate is possible without artifacts currently...
