BTW, Cubase 5 coming on Thursday! YAY!

Perhaps somewhere along the line people have learnt tolerance and acceptance of other's DAW choices?? Or we're all just tired of the arguments that go absolutely nowhere and have no point. I think we'd all agree that superiority is in the eye of the beholder! Given the wide range of very good audio software I think it's a great time for all Computer Musicians!koolkeys wrote:It seems to me that with the later versions of Cubase 4 and with Cubase 5, a lot of the criticism of Cubase has disappeared. Sure it still has it's critics and it's problems. But from those I've talked to, it's now very stable, and turned into a very robust application(though it was already pretty deep).
Considering all this, and considering how they are still adding cool features like VST Expression is a good thing. Something tells me that the Yamaha purchase of Steinberg has been a good one.
I mean, think back a couple of years and this thread would have been trashed by now with people who don't like Cubase for whatever reason, and recommending their apparent "superior" host.
Add to that how many people I've seen that are jumping to Cubase because of all this, and it's a pretty good day for Cubase, IMO.

Well, I wasn't trying to say that anything is or is not superior. My point was just that Cubase doesn't get the grief it used to. It seems they have really refined what it there and gotten rid of most showstopping bugs(or all, who knows) and even the Cubase forums are much more nice than they used to be. Almost like the stigma surrounding Cubase has changed in general.ReceptorDamage wrote:Perhaps somewhere along the line people have learnt tolerance and acceptance of other's DAW choices?? Yes, that is a problem with the Waves Bundle. Besides the long startup times, you will also notice an increased memory usage.bduffy wrote:You know what I don't like about Cubase? Really, really, really long startup times - even on a modern, fast machine. I mean, seriously: over one full minute for me to get working! Or is that just because I have a Waves bundle?

Waves has released a patch to solve these problems, though they do not advertise it. You should get in contant with Waves Support and they will supply instructions to download a new version of the 6.0.7 Waveshell-VST file from their FTP site. Then have to trash the "Vst2xBlacklist, Vst2xPlugins, VstPlugInfo" in the Nuendo/Cubase App Data folder along with the Waves prefs located at "C:\Documents&Settings\your user\Application Data\Waves Audio\Preferences"

hey im a bricklayerdcfac73 wrote:I personally prefer Live because it's quicker (and less anal)for me and Cubase seems like bricklaying or playing with Lego for me. But audio editing is heaps better in Cubase....don't even think Live has one.
I don't use many of the vst's, but the vsti's are starting to be invaluable........no really.....spector, prologue, mystic, embracer, and halion one all have their place!dcfac73 wrote:what does everyone think of the bundled vst's?
The latest version (5.0.1) of Cubase doesn't scan anymore on startup. Now there is a button in the plugin management window to force a search for new plugins.fandango wrote:Urgh, tell me about Kontakt start-up times.![]()
Thing is, most hosts just scan the plugin (properly) once and then store the details.
Does Cubase actually do the full body cavity search on plugins on every startup???(MUST be an option, surely?)
