Which one should I download from http://www.grapefruitwarez.com so I can think of buying one of them (or not)? Aliasynth or Sizzlemaster?

Well, it's really hard to say-- unless you also download the 70,000 Existential presets that take things to a fantastically fabulous level. Wow!! It's virtually awesome to use either then; except one is different and one is digital. Maybe both.
But one of them has a switch I think. I forget which. Maybe both.
Take care,
joji

Hello Howard, welcome to KVR!
Have you tried Zebra? I would recommend it over either of the synths you mention. The learning curve is a bit steep, but the developer is a genius and a nice guy (even though he stubbornly refuses to make the GUI size a modulation target).
My 2 cents.

Aliasynth all the way! I saw DJ Popular-now live in NY and he used it for most of the show! To me it sounds more alive and creamy and analog than anything else. I also love the way the interface just knows what I want to do next. I heard some people complain it's written in visual basic and powershell so it's a CPU hog but for this kind of power get a complete PC to run it like a standalone synth!!!!1!11
I guess sizzlemaster is ok if you like to make far out space effects or the famous "cooking bacon" preset used by ProgRockLegend. The filters sound weak to me when I listened to three presets and moved the modwheel.
If you do get aliasynth from the site you mentioned don't forget to also download the presets palebluedun mentioned. All the songs I haven't written wouldn't be completed without them!

How am I supposed to be objective and scientific about this if there is no thread poll?
1) Aliasynth
2) Sizzlemaster
3) Depends on the type of wires.
4) Bananas and buffalo wings are yummy.

Hm, Sizzlemaster has this very transparent yet "warmer than everything else" magic dust vintage analogue sound upon it.
Also its oscillators are not so overly bright -
I'd download that one every time again!
And it's free (kind of...)

I only use http://www.dedicatedaudio.com/inc/sdetail/2409 power cords with Aliasynth and they really bring out the character of this super powerful VST.billstei wrote:3) Depends on the type of wires.

I prefer the George Foreman grill. It makes the most analog bacon around.

WTF? I'm not touching that Zerba thing unless knob size and label font are *individual* modulation targets (doing that from an arpeggerator is totally awesome, BTW), with selectable lin, log or random law. How the frak am I supposed to automate the GUI to my liking otherwise? Gimme a break!PaulSC wrote:Hello Howard, welcome to KVR!

I checked out Sizzlemaster for at least half a minute today (and made 17 of my own fantastic trance presets in the process - watch this space!). Sizzlemaster lets you route any modulation source into the sync input of the combined reverb/trasher module. Can Zerba do that? Eh?
The only problem I see with Sizzlemaster is that the package costs $29 - OK, you get over 40,000 presets, but I don't see why I should pay so much for ANY software... where's the education discount?
Next stop - Aliasynth. Woot!!
