These templates are awesome, Hlis! I'm learning a lot through studying them. This is exactly what many of us need as a next step towards becoming better graphics artists. They are very instructional and useful. Thanks. :)

Here's a quick attempt at using one of the templates for my super filter; it's not complete (I left out the filter stage).

I'm not sure about the dropdown boxes. I basically used the same approach as I did with my own UI. I would be curious to see what you come up with adding your own dropdowns to your templates.

LOL, a friend pointed out how two of the labels together say "SPREAD EM." That wasn't intentional. Spread makes the outputs of the lfo 90 degrees out of phase and EM means envelope modulation, i.e. it rounds the env. follower's output to the lfo's frequency.

Not sure about the burnt orange background; just a little experiment with color.

Holy ____! That looks perfect! Feel free to use that,well...it is open source :) if you don't mind that I have template up for others to go through, it looks great with the burnt orange...I couldn't really find a color that I liked on that one and its a perfect choice. I think the drop downs are just fine. If you could send my a screen capture of that if you finish it, I would love to see it without the image clipping that happen here on the posts!

btw I posted the other templates up on my blog (see the www.http://sukaudio.blogspot.com/)

I forgot note the knobs are not animated yet. I left that out feeling it would be best for the designer to determine. :)

Looks almost like some device you'd put onto the cherry maple cupboard :P
Great stuff ... lots of inspiration for the more realistic surface looks in this thread.

I finished another one of the templates. I feel this one is a bit boring but it is what it is. I created the drop-down menus and switch bodies in Skinman, the animated parts are the small indicator to show they are in use. I also used some .png files for various things such as shadows on the knobs. There are 4 different flavors included in the file to as a means to demo what parts of the skin change best. I did my best to label everything so it is relatively clear what is what. Well, that's all for now…

Another Skinman/knobman template. Last one for the week. I didn't do any animations for the buttons at the bottom and the knobs, switch, menu and faders all need to be more visiable (I dont really have time to fix it). There are a few others on my blog, all of them are open source so they can be used in anyway.

There are not many Skinman examples here, I was wondering do people use Skinman? Are there examples of it in use besides what is posted here?

I'm about to have a go with skinman for a contract piece I'm doing.. it's fairly simple what I want, so hopefully shouldn't be too hard to do :)

This was made using skinman/knobman.

Cool! :)

Well, I'm gearing up to update my reverb to v2.0. I'm going to add modulation to the allpass section.

I started updating the UI using SkinMan. Here's the v1.0 UI:

Here's the new UI:

The new version is a little smaller width wise than the old one (but slightly larger height wise), which is good. I also got rid of all of the knob labels. There were so many of them on the old UI, and all they did was add noise, as far as I can tell.

The new UI was definitely influenced from studying Hlis93's SkinMan templates, though it's not in the same league quality wise.

Also, for those of you using SkinMan, have you noticed a problem with the font rendering? It seems as though adjusting the font size up or down just a single point can make a big difference in the rendering quality, especially at small sizes, say, around 12pt. Maybe this is the nature of the beast sort of thing where when you get down to that size, you're going to struggle with rendering quality.

Edit:

Without the wood adornments. And I tightened up the UI overall by moving the bypass switch and LCD to the top. Unfortunately this left some space below the Reverb and Modulation sections, so I just filled it with some decorations:

Edit 2:

Changed the text color to orange for some of the labels. Also played around with the header and footer to make them more symmetrical:

The first one was made with gimp and knobman, the second was entirely knobman/skinman.

Interesting comparison. There are thing I like about both of them, but the first is cool but not as easy to understand.
