How is the new Live 8 update for everyone?

Well, it took me an entire evening to finish a plugin scan because it crashed randomly on a plugin. Usually not the same plugin, and you couldn't start from where you left off. I had to delete plugins from my folder that were crashing it because it doesn't blacklist plugins. When I added them back, they would scan fine. Or not. It was never consistent.
It wasn't a good first impression, that's for sure.

It's been a net gain for me. Most of the problems I had with 7 (midi sync, midi recording) are still there, some have been fixed (no crashing when I change the buffer size with plug-ins instantiated), but I haven't encountered any new ones.
I took to the new warping scheme really quickly and the new effects have proven pretty useful.
I push Live pretty hard so I figure, if I was going to have problems they would have shown up by now. So far so good.

Live 8 is a hog when building up big projects with multiple scenes (nearly 50 on one project I'm working on), and nearly 200 channels - tends to hit the memory ceiling very quickly even when using native plugs.
It's frozen my NEW quad-core on a few occasions when I push it hard.
My opinion is that they are still dealing with memory issues, and buffering stability.
Neverthless it does a lot of cool things for live performance especially.

Well I tried the steps that Ableton recommended (which included re-installing Live and Sampletank), but the end result is that running Live v8 as administrator or turning UAC off solves my problem with Sampletank (Under Vista, right click the Live icon and click 'Run as administrator').
Maybe this could solve other peoples issues if you are running Vista.

Whoa... 8.0.2 is freakin huge. I hope future updates won't be this large.

Last time I checked a Live 8 thread the majority of people having problems were running it on Vista.I have quite a few plug-ins and Live 8 recognized every one of them

I suspect that most are having the same issue I was having where Live doesn't detect certain plugins unless you run it as administrator. Ableton support did tell me that they are working on a more permanant solution.Kmeister wrote:Last time I checked a Live 8 thread the majority of people having problems were running it on Vista.I have quite a few plug-ins and Live 8 recognized every one of them

very strange that live 8 has all these problems. it didn't seem to introduce any radically new features. did they redo the core code?
