I asked the creator of the VL-1 about porting it VSTI a couple years ago at AES.Bubbamusic wrote:VP-1 is Poly - I believe VL-1 is mono . There was about $35,000.00 difference in price. VP-1 makes some serious sounds. From what I recall, Yamaha set out to build the ultimate physical modeling synth. They started with strings - bowed and plucked. You should hear some of the string patches on this thing. The plucked stuff is tough also - sort of like Cube, but much better sounding - more detail. This thing was way ahead of its time, but it turned out to be too expensive to make at the time. They stopped at two. They were both sold and as far as I know, still with the original owners.Lotuzia wrote:Isn't it Yamaha VL-1 instead ? Those are two expensive synths. I wonder if it is possible to emulate these synths.?)
Never seen one in action.
Ideas for new vintage emulations

VL-1 was duophonic , in fact...
(VL-70m, the rack version that i'm proud to own is monophonic !)

Yes! Yes! Yes!duncanparsons wrote:a mate of mine had the Yamaha CS30, and I loved it - one of those as a VSTi would be fab..
....
The Yamaha CS30 is one of the most beautiful "undiscovered" synth treasures.
Basically a CS15 with additional envelope, on board sequencer and a few other bells and whistles, it is one synth that any Vangelis\JMJarre\TangerineDream\Moroder\DepecheMode fan would love to use ....
Important: the sequence must be "real time transposable" by MIDI input!!!

I am sure i have seen freeware vsti(s) that can load two (or more) samples and use the one sample to FM the other, but not SY99/77 emulations.DocAtlas wrote:...
And I wouldn't mind virtual versions of the Yamaha SY77/99/TG77 and FS1R. Preferably the features of both rolled into 1 super-FM instrument, but if not, at least the ability to load your own samples into the SY clone.
But i cannot remember their names...
(By the way, i love my TG77!)

You lucky ..... one!system20 wrote:The AKAI AX80....
But probably for no other reason then it was my first synth back in the 80's
The AX80 is maybe the most good looking synth ever designed.
Gorgeous!
When it was introduced i wanted to buy one,
but did not have the money.
Now i have the money but i cannot find one.
Anyway, if someone tries to make one AX80 vsti,
for god's sake, make it LOOK the same!

To me, this is the most beautiful (and expensive) synth:

We had long ago a thread here comparing VP1 and Logic Sculpture...
...it seems (...take it then, with a grain of sait

I realy think the circuit bent casio MT68 whith the wood sides realy doese deserve a top notch virtual modular equivelant. It certaintly would be a fairly big statement to the big guns out there?
Come on Roland, come on Yamaha, come on Korg, come on Casio.....................?

You are the owner of one of the VP-1's offspring - what do you think? Is Sculpture as good as owning a VP-1?Krakatau wrote:We had long ago a thread here comparing VP1 and Logic Sculpture...
