It almost seems like using a propellerhead is a political statement. FWIW, I am a PC user and will probably be using Record.

1. People feel so strongly about a product that is obviously not going to be of any use to them.

2. People feel the need to repeatedly point out so-called flaws in a product that (according to them) can't compete with products they already use.

I don't even think it's that. I think it's just that people who buy music software, and who never use any of it to make any actual music worth listening to, feel the need to do something with it. And so this culture of X vs Y evolves as a natural consequence. Sort of like the way that people who take association football games really seriously, but who can't actually play football very well, join hooligan firms.

Not much of a student of human nature, eh? Threads like this are all over the place. Like it or not, this is big industry news and tongues are going to wag. Believe me, I've heard plenty of people prattle on about SONAR who don't own it, don't plan on owning it, and don't know anything about it. Never bothers me, it goes with the territory. Why should the Props to be entitled to any kind of immunity from this sorta thing?

People are pissed that the next big thing from a major player excludes them. No matter what software you use, most people are always open to something that may be bigger and better and improve their workflow.

No mystery here really - I imagine this thread will keep going until the program is old hat.

I'm an American too, and I find soccer to be the most boring game ever conceived. I was just being 'international' for the benefit of our hosts.

And yeah, the Lions suck. Even worse than the Vikings. And that is saying something.

Well Reason pretty much invented alot of these dance (or house) music genres. Stuff like d'n'b and bassline is pretty much all done in Reason. Propellerheads is huge in those circles.

I use both Mac and PC and have no particular loyalty towards either platform, they both have their pros and cons. So that can't be it.

I use both Record(beta)/Reason and Cubase 5 with VST plugs, so that can't be it either.

So which fence is that? Beer vs wine fans? Americans vs Europeans? Lost vs Heroes fans? Family Guy vs Simpsons fans? Coffee/tea? Big tits/small tits? Cats/dogs?

well then. I am sorry that having an opinion on which software is better offends so many people. Especially when it comes from a long time previous Reason user. I came in this thread to discuss about Record. Sorry if my comments reminded you of how little your mommie loved you. I know I don't get offended if somebody slags a piece of software I use. Grow up people. Or don't and continue to resort to childish insults because your tiny ego is somehow linked to the program you use to make music.

Its the person behind it, not the tools that matter the most. You could make phat beats in FastTracker if you really really wanted.

Couple of questions about the rules, though.

I'm a liberal, which in the U.S. means I'm a left-winger, but in Europe it means I'm right-wing capitalist scum. Also, in Europe the color red is associatied with socialism/communism and blue is associated with conservatism/liberalism, while in the US, commie-red is the color of the right-wingers.

So... do I stand to the left or to the right, and which color is my team's flag?

To complicate matters further, I'm ambidextrous... I write with my left hand but play drums/bass/guitar like a right-handed person and I move the mouse between my left and right hand whenever either hand gets tired, so I'm still not sure whether I'm on the left or right team.

To complicate matters even further, I like both coffee and tea, both wine and beer, both Lost and Heroes, both Family Guy and Simpsons. And I hate both American football and soccer.

And then there's the platform thing... see, I use Windows in BootCamp on a Mac, where I rewire Reason to Cubase and use it along with VSTs. I do equal parts of freelance work both for companies inside the VST universe (IK, Toontrack, even Steinberg a couple of times) and outside it (Props)... so am I a Mac fanboy, a PC fanboy, a VST fanboy or a Reason fanboy in this smackdown?
