No doubt you can be sorry, but in my view, you should give a better explanation. Even with servers, down, you could have pay attention to all the messages from your customers and the threads here on KVR.

Moreover, you should give more garantees and less promises.

I know I'm harsh, but if things change, it'll be your profit, because your products are attractive.

Irony. So much better in real life. Hard to translate into text.

Sorry, but I don't understand your answer.

And thus proving my point.

HSkovlund has nothing to do with Superwave.

Post

Stanlea, I don't believe Hskovlund works for Superwave. I think the goofy/cheesy salesman picture in Hskovlund's post was supposed to convey that it was a joke. (Along with servers being down for "a while" since Superwave disappeared for years.)

This thread is becoming big fun now :-)

I'm starting to get an idea why there was no announcement on KVR news regarding Tarkus or Superwave, or did I miss it?

The crash is due to a multi-core processing issue and will be fixed in a future release. A simple workaround is to disable multi-core processing in your VST host, or, use only one instance of the Tarkus and bounce down to audio tracks."
That's just the well known SE bug...nothing new there. They probably ought to mention that using renamed copies of the dll is another effective workaround for most people. (Edit: oh wait, that probably doesn't work with their copy protection system.) The much bigger concern is how they apparently abandoned their users years ago, and that they continued to sell the plugs as if they were still around and supporting them. Weren't there also some reports of people paying for the plug then not receiving their codes? (Or am I mistaken about that?)

[edit] After posting, I realized you pointed that out to highlight them saying they'd have a future release. Yes, considering their track record thus far that does seem unlikely.

Not so sure about that.
While there's no reason to complain with freebies, it's a showstopper with commercial software of any kind.

I'm kinda torn. I really like my Trance-Pro and Professional but I had the same problems that when I went to put them on my new HD some modules didn't seem to make it as I get errors (non-fatal) when I start Trance-Pro. Since they weren't around, I was basically boned.

This Tarkus looks pretty cool. If they make a good faith effort to reconnect, I'm a forgiving person.
Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.

I don't get it. I'm listening to their demo tracks right now and as far as I can tell they sound like a hundred other SE synths out there, many that are freeware. Who'd pay a dime to these guys after what they did? There are a thousand alternatives as good or better.

Feel like buying one of these? Get this and if you still feel bad that money hasn't left you, pm me and I'll give you an email address where you can paypal me some money.

It certainly is not a favorable thing, no argument there. I'd love to be rid of it with my own plugs, if I could, but the new version of SE apparently still isn't stable yet. But provided information on the existence of that bug is clearly made available to the user before purchase, I think it's up to the individual to decided whether or not it is showstopper. (As you said "ymmv".) I don't think a FAQ page is the best place for it though. On my site I have information on the bug posted right at the top of my shopping page, as well as included in the bug link on each product page. (And when I rebuild my site the bug list on the product pages will be more clearly displayed.) But I digress...this thread is about Superwave.

You are right of course. We actually tried to inform our loyal customers but then we were attacked by warez users. Blame those bastards and not us! However, to be fair, I'll say 10% discount on every new product and TWO additional reg codes for free then!

What do you say Stan? (Yes, at our company, you are name and not just a number).

Do we have a deal or what?

ugo,
sorry, this was not directed at you.
I wasn't aware of your software, again, sorry.
You seem to be quite honest and open about the issue, nothing wrong there.
Still, I stand by my opinion re that bug all in all.
Can't you Synthedit guys get together, visit the dev with a flower pot full of fresh concrete and make him an offer he can't refuse ? :x
This issue devalues the creative efforts of many good folks here after all.
Afaics it's been a long time, technology's been moving on.
Peace,
susiwong
