Hi Urs -
Am I correct to assume that Uhbik X is going to allow Uhbik to be used like some sort of "camelspace on roids"? Thanks!

Hmmm... I think they are very different things...
I'd rather compare Uhbik-X to an Ensoniq DP-4

Not really. X and Zebrify are awaiting the final incarnation of Pitch Detection. G awaits the implementation of really fast trigonometric functions on Windows. But currently I'm working on file handling stuff, so I'm a bit out of focus here... and enxt week I'm on vacation.fjolle wrote:Pretty interesting
Can you enlighten us on any timeframe for the release of X and G?
That said, it can be a matter of weeks but it can also be a matter of months.

That comment has blown me away!!!!!Urs wrote:I'd rather compare Uhbik-X to an Ensoniq DP-4
So i'm tipping any parameter from any units in the bundle will be able to be connected in any order. Kind of like a modular fx unit
Urs you should run for President mate

I'm looking at my ASR-10 Rack as I write this and I'm excited by your comment on the DP-4. But since the company folded, I think, in the last century, and the DP-4 is, I think, only really known to a relatively small group of gearheads from another era, I would think your comment would cause a good deal of head-scratching among the current crop of soft-gear enthusiasts.
Regardless, that's great news. The effects out of the ASR line (adopted 4 fold into the DP-4) are among the best ever. Getting them 'in the box' is really a cool possibility.
Best of luck.

Oh, that's just great, now I have to face the reality of how old I really am. I can't even measure it in years anymore, it's eras.BERFAB wrote:...and the DP-4 is, I think, only really known to a relatively small group of gearheads from another era, ...

Try looking at it in terms of the percentage of your life since Ensoniq folded. I found it comforting as the result is a number that sounds much smaller than the reality.billstei wrote:Oh, that's just great, now I have to face the reality of how old I really am. Intriguing! Can't wait to see how this performs (since I have no knowledge of the DP-4).Mushy Mushy wrote:That comment has blown me away!!!!!Urs wrote:I'd rather compare Uhbik-X to an Ensoniq DP-4

Well, today is my 49th birthday. And when you write it down like that, it looks like a big number no matter how you slice it.billstei wrote:Oh, that's just great, now I have to face the reality of how old I really am. But the days of Ensoniq were really an ERA unto themselves, if you ask me. My last issue of the Transoniq Hacker was a sad day indeed. Before internet forums (hell, before the internet) we had the Hacker to ask questions and trade patch settings. It's much easier now, of course, [buying, storing and using Urs' FX plug will be much easier - and cheaper - than getting and lugging around a real DP-4] but the difficulties one faced using those big boxes was all part of a very potent gear lust that is lacking from today's flashy graphics and fancy codes.
Like I said before, I was very surprised to see Urs reference something that I assume to be quite foreign to his core audience. But it is, in a way, reassuring to know that my comrades from the Hacker days are still out there in force.
Cheers

Berfab, I've been an Ensoniq zealot and will always be. Even though my DP-4 died on me, as did the Polypressure of my beloved EPS16.
However, it may baffle some people but I think the Ensoniqs also had that kind of phantastic user interface that I was talking about before. Once one learned the 3-button sequences it was *very* fast to work with.
Oh... and of course... Uhbiks are not seeking to emulate the sound of the DP-4. Even though I studied their maker's papers exhaustively.
