Many of the bundled plugs are Tracktion-specific.
I wonder if Mackie would consider giving away (or selling cheaply) the source if they are dropping it. It would make a great basis for an improved Audacity-style open source project.

Good luck with that sale! You can actually get T2 at Mackie's site for 25 USD.thoshu wrote:By the way, if anyone wants to buy a copy of T2, there is still one copy left at amazon.de - for 136 €.

I guess I'll give away my T3 license to a friend who use Windows then. I've never been able to use T3 on the mac and it seems like I never will.

The mackie plugs obviously can't be unlocked for use in other hosts.
As long as Mackie don't decide to pull the plug on the CR servers I'm fine.
(If there is any weight to this rumour, and the do kill the CR servers, I'll be all kinds of pissed off).

I got in on the $49 ultimate bundle from MF... tried the demo a while ago and loved the simplicity. For $49 I figured I couldn't go wrong even if its discontinued.
Hopefuly, if worst comes to worst for Mackie, someone will pick up this asset at a bargain and maybe tracktion users will at least get an upgrade path of some kind.

I wouldn't be surprised to see T3 discontinued but as long as Mackie has some form of retail outlet, it costs them next to nothing to keep printing and selling T3. As a former music retailer, some products reach a point where they're no longer worth selling ( little profit - tons of complaints/servicing/headaches etc. ), T3 probably reached that point for most music retailers a few months back when it showed up at Costco.com in a bargain package. If T3 sticks around thru Mackie, probably only direct or thru similar deals going forward.
Given the lack of T3 support, I bought Protools/MBox2 to have something to 'grow with' a few months back but thus far its only collected dust. I hope Mackie gets back on track and re-commits but not holding my breath. If another company picks it up I would not be surprised to see a rebadge and/or some 'transfer fee' for current users (again, headaches and no profit ?) - if a reputable enough company did so (with a reasonable enough fee - or FREE ?! ), I'd consider it - too many hours/years in T to just walk away

Not legally. Tracktion needs its license file from Mackies CR server to work. That's how it's written.
That's why I'm against CR systems, you can't realistically expect companies to run their CR servers forever (look at various music stores that have shutdown taking their subscribers paid for content with them). It's quiet possible for you to nurse an old PC with outdated software for years if it does what you need, not so if the software gets it into it's head to stop working due to system changes and it's CR server is long gone.
