The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the European Union (EU27) in March 2009 was 8.3% compared to 6.7% in March 2008. The Eurozone (EA16) unemployment figure for January 2009 was 8.2% compared to 7.3% in January 2008.[4] The unemployment rate (EU25) had previously declined in prior years from 8.9% in March 2005 to 8.4% in March 2006 to 7.3% in March 2007.[5] The rate varies widely by member state. There has been a steep upturn in the unemployment rate in recent months due to the worldwide credit crunch and following recession. The countries within the EU which were most affected were Spain, Ireland and the Baltic countries with the unemployment rate doubling or in case of the Baltic countries nearly tripling. By comparison in March 2009 the United States had an unemployment rate of 8.6% (2008: 5.1; 2007: 4.4; 2006: 4.7) which was higher than the EU-27's unemployment rate but lower than the EU-16 Eurozone rate of 8.9%.

will take place in the form of criminally high heating/cooling/transportation bills to pay for exorcising the imaginary carbon demons. True global global warming and cooling are cyclical, based on the output of the sun, and there is no thermostat connected to the sun 8) Props to algore, for being one of the truly great con-artists in human history :)
I take it you're American.

It kept getting cooler so they had to change it to "climate change". It's still the same old scam but now it's got a new and improved name that can't be argued with. Clever bastards. :hihi:

As soon as the big one goes off in Yellowstone all the humans are going to die anyway. Ignoring that is living in denial. :hihi:

OMG!!! We're all doomed. :hihi:

But maybe some rapacious, greedy politician can collect a bunch of tax dollars for research and social engineering if they can convince us there's something we can do about it.

Not all of us. It's no wonder, though, that Europeans think many Americans are arrogant, self-absorbed and clueless.

I'm well aware of that. But your thickos are so much louder, cockier and proud of their ignorance than ours. So you'll have to forgive the generalisations.

Your implication is offensive. I don't believe there is any single country that has a monopoly on ignorance or stupidity. I'm sure where ever you are from you have your fair share. A good number of us are not only thoughtful but also aware. What we are lacking is the will to force change. Lasting change, not just the next resident at the White House change or 3mpg better out of our cars change.

Pretty arrogant considering the UK is every bit at fault as the US. Lots of money travels across the pond to the UK. It has benefited from our excesses more than any other nation, including Japan. Yet you think you have some moral ground to stand on. Whatever.

And what is it that we're as at fault about? Because I was having a slap at the grinning idiot's denial of climate change, and at his typically American view that somehow Al Gore was a major player in the debate where everyone else thinks he's jumped on the band waggon a tad late. A bit like when he invented the information super highway.

But don't let that stop you waving your silly little flag at me.
