I also particularly like KV331's ideas of wavetable support and more flexible modulation options. I think that the next version is going to be killer.
I fancied SynthMaster before and kept myself from buying being broke because of its kinda harsh digital 80s sound.

The new filter drive adds a great chaotic flavour and since I got a new job and time 'til the 1. of July, I'll get it this time.

Even better than analog filters I like tube filters I first heard in demos of the german Rozzbox synthesizer: http://www.rozzbox.de/
But Metasonix got some nice demos of their weird boxes too.

I searched the web for a tube filter simulation for days. There is none. Maybe a feature request for SynthMaster 3 ;-)

Finally a little question regarding your success: why aren't there more than 2 user reviews on kvr? Why doesn't the kv331 site point us to more reviews? In part two of amazona.de's "best free synths" e.g. synthmaster is one of 4 synths recommended. And it's suggested to buy the very affordable full version...

Thanks

v1.0 was really cold sounding. No analog filters, no free running oscillators...
Hopefuly those were fixed in v2.0

I'll check that out. Probably we can add that in a dot release, no need to wait for v3.0 :)

Dont know. Probably, people dont know enough about SynthMaster yet, it's still an underdog. With v2.0, you can be sure we'll do more marketing, as we belive this time it has the chance to be succcesful at the current price point!

Thanks!

I'm sure you have a great chance for it to be successful with such excellent features, especially at the price you are asking.

As a feature request, will it be possible to lock the sequencer patterns playing while trying out different preset sounds?

Sequencer is part of a layer, and we have 2 layers per preset. If you load an entire preset, the sequencer settings will be reloaded as well. However, if you have the same sequencer settings for 2 different presets, I think that should work. I'll check it out.

I'd add up:

-some new filter like scream, acid or comb - not only the LPF, HPF variations

-bitcrusher

-tube boost or feedback / like the one in massive /

-anything that will make the sound less sterile if needed

Anyway wish you luck with the new version, it looks really great and the version 1 is still great synth, but bit of unfinished. I'm sorry that there were not any updates which would add some of the elements missing - but it looks like it might come true in the new version.

Of course :)

SM supports "partial" presets for:

Layer
Arpeggiator
Osc
Mod
Filter
Voice LFO
ADSR Envelope
Multistage Envelope
Keyscaler
Global LFO
Vocoder
Chorus
Reverb
Echo

Of course, we'll be adding copy/paste functionality as well. Right now, we only have load/save for "partial" presets.

2 more points:

1. We tried to optimize the diskspace a preset uses, for instance if you LFO is a basic LFO, we dont save the steps data, we skip those params.

2. For wavetable oscillators, we save all the waveform data along with an osc preset. If you dont have the waveform cached in your hard drive, it is constructed when you load the preset.

There were NO updates, as we were busy working for v2.0! Instead of updating a half done product, we decided to go quiet, and worked on v2.0 :) When we release v2.0 you'll see we made extensive use of XML for instance, to define parameters in SynthMaster, and user interfaces as well, just as Microsoft does with XAML to define user interfaces 8)

Anyhow, there's already a comb filter type. We'll add all the others you mentioned as well, in dot releases.

We'll also be adding an advanced waveshaper and audio rate filter cutoff modulation, but those will come in subsequent releases.

Maybe instead of Synthmaster, it should be called SynthMonster! This is going to be one heck of a beast.

Well, I came up with that name back in 1995. Right now no plans to change it, just planning to "deserve" the name :D

Hello, I'm considering getting this, but MUST ask:

1. Is it skinable???

2. Are there other "colours" to chose from. ANY other colours, than those I've seen in the screen-grabs???

Thank you.

The technology we have is WAY SUPERIOR than skinning. In skinning, you have a fixed interface, you just change color/styles/background pictures. In our technology, we have a GUI editor with which even users can design their interfaces, or modify existing interfaces and skin them.

Right now, we have templates, we havent worked on creating different skins yet. But in time, they'll come. We are focusing on completing the feature set at the moment. One we're done with that, we'll add more skins/interfaces!

Thanks!
