I am not buying this synth unless it can do this...

Synced saws, hi res, low cut off, OMFG

In all fairness, Feng did get the bass right. But we want to hear an arp, like the one that starts around 4:25

to do those silly trance sounds, that are all the same since years, you don't need the LARGO at all. Just buy one sample-cd
now that was a really noob sentence matey. it doesn't matter what do you play, synths, guitars, drums, panflute, people want to tweak sounds so to buy a sample cd for synth sounds is the dumbest idea I ever heard (even if I know you wanted to be sarcastic ;)) believe me, we, who like those silly trance sounds are aware of the different options and characters different synths can offer and we just curious what Largo is about since it comes from a famous manufacturer. The gist is not the silly trance sound but Largo's cababilities compared to other Waldorf synths silly-trance-soundwise ;)

of course you buy a Virus if you are sophisticated-silly trance sound lover

Actually, I'm making a Psy variant, and would be interested in using Largo for that. Sample cd's don't work for me, as I really enjoy doing my own sound design.

Meanwhile, You need a great synth for trance. Trance-- Hard, soft, vocal, flaming, whatever. Is great music, I don't know why a lot of folk on this website think they listen to Opera, or whatever IDM flavor of the month, and diss trance so much.

A bunch of people too good for trance, and listening to experimental blips.

If all you need is a sample cd for trance, all you need is a pop-corn machine for minimal.

Actually, I was kinda joking, and referring to the poster above. He seems like he really wants to hear a massive trance arp.

I can't blame him though.

By the way, I can't stand todays electro garbage.

Buy it or Don't Buy it :D

It floors me that Waldorf has finally put out a softsynth with all the PPG/Microwave/Q wavetables and a multitude of other sound design options, and still it seems like most of the posts in this thread lately are people wanting to know, "Can it do a good supersaw?" I mean, if you're probably not even going to use the oscillators in anything but VA mode spitting out sawtooths, why bother with something like Largo when most of its potential will be wasted on you anyway? It's like buying a big analog modular and using it for nothing but Minimoog bass emulations.

Nice job on the demos btw, Doc (it's not my place to apologize for others, but I do find the perplexing and uncalled-for disrespect shown towards you rather embarrassing).

well said Vectorman :)

nobody said we only interested in supersaw, all the other possibilities are respected. I only want to know how fat its sound can be, because if it's fat enough, no need to buy a mQ

I'm still wondering, how external samples would be integrated in Largo's synthesis ?

- obviously nothing in common with alchemy for instance...

as user-created wavetables for example or if you know Tone2 Gladiator which has nice loops integrated for rhytmic patches used via vocoder

No it doesn't. Someone on the waldorf list asked about it and they basically said there are already plenty of software options for your samples and they want to keep sample loading as something unique to the blofeld so they probably wont be adding it. Or something to that effect.
That sucks. What does Largo having Sample Import have to do at all with Blofield though? Keep sample loading unique? Umm... Sample Import is rather common these days. I'm not seeing how it is unique at all? It's almost as Waldorf are making a total Joke out of themselves? That and No Largo Demo version? Waldorf keep getting more and more lame. I seriously don't get them anymore? They use to be Cool back in the day. These days I'd have to say their rather shady and lame? Come on Waldorf redeem yourself by releasing a Largo Demo version! Is that really that much to ask for? I guess releasing a Demo version isn't "Unique" enough for them?
lol at the demo version. :)

Shady? I don't know. The blofeld is an awesome synth and you get a lot for your money. The sample upgrade expands the blofeld significantly and i think waldorf want to keep that as a unique selling point of the blofeld as it turns it into a standalone sound module and like they say, there are a few alternatives like alchemy etc. Perhaps all this james bond villain stuff is making them look like the bad guys. :P

If they do they are misinformed. I bought it for the wavetable and graintable synthesis and great non dance presets designed by people like Howard Scarr and Pix (which are in the majority by far)

That is exactly what I wanted to say in my "sarcastic" post! (if only my english was better :? )

totaly right!

Totally snobby.

The tone of a musical instrument is of paramount importance. If it wasn't, than a difference wouldn't exist between Les Paul's and Telecaster's.

Frankly, a supersaw, is a supersaw, is a supersaw, is just not the case. If it were, than any old synth would do.

Reaktor is an amazing program, more capable, and complex than 98% of the things around. But you wouldn't catch me doing anything simple, or complex in it. I don't like the tone it has. To me, its very bright, and happy sounding.

Likewise, if I loved the tone of Reaktor more than any other soft synth software in the world, and all I wanted to do was make synced saws till hell froze over, what would I use?

To not understand the importance of tone in a musical instrument, to completely miss the fact that pure emotion most often comes from simple melodies, and simple sounds with great vibe, is to be standing underneath a night sky, forgetting the beauty of space and time.
