A bunch of Pluckers

I've been experimenting with 'sampling' real instruments into zebra using jupiter8's Wav2Zebra and here's what I've come up with so far:
Pluckers
These are all 'real' or acoustic emulation style patches, not 'synthy' stuff - if you prefer more electronic sounds this is probably not for you.
A quick explanation: These are short plucked instrument sounds 'sampled' into Zebra via Wav2Zebra, then tweaked and messed around with a little. Though it is only possible to 'sample' very small snippets of sound into Zebra*, I was hoping to take advantage of the phenomena whereby, for sounds with very fast attack (e.g. plucked or percussive sounds), the auditory system 'decides' how to perceive a sound based upon the little information contained within the very first milliseconds of a sound.
Anyway that's the theory. Three patches, 'Nylon', 'Double' and 'Stratus' were built around a nylon guitar sample, the others were from a koto, kalimba and pizzicato sample.
(*by my reckoning it's 46ms per OSC at 44.1kHz - using all OSC's could give nearly 1/5th of a second!)

Crazy stuff. I tried a different approach http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=250852
but got nowhere near the realism you got.
Funny how your idea never occurred to me. It's quite obvious if one is familiar with the Roland D50.

Yep. That's pretty much where I got the idea fromjupiter8 wrote:

And of course it wouldn't have been possible without Wav2Zebra - which does the job very nicely I must say
P.s. I tried your method first, I had a few attempts at the Mellotron 'Aah Choir' but never got anything near as good as your 'Laser Harp', 'Ooh Choir', or that great 'Boys Choir' patch

This is pretty decent 1 shots made useable
They do sound natural enough to me, just gotta stick to around the base key to avoid chip monk effect
Thanks hakey

Cheers Michael,
That's praise indeed coming from you.
I must say I've learnt a lot listening to and dissecting your patches - the sounds that you arrive at are always so well judged and precisely balanced.

Just for the record: i did'nt do Boy's Choir. That was soundpalace (and was awesome BTW). Must have missed Ooh Choir. I saw Howard did a choir patch as well. Maybe it's his.hakey wrote:I had a few attempts at the Mellotron 'Aah Choir' but never got anything near as good as your 'Laser Harp', 'Ooh Choir', or that great 'Boys Choir' patch

(that was down to me quickly rescanning through the Wav2Zebra thread)
