Sorry if this has already been covered in this thread but I couldn't bring myself to read through all 67 pages.

Am I correct in thinking that if i install Workstation I no longer need an Ilok key to make it work, now that it's free, and will only need one of I buy some of the sound banks?

Thanks for helping this newb find his way in the dark :?

Hi,

Technically, you don't need an iLok key to launch UVIWorkstation.
Still, it requires PACE drivers to be installed and you will need an iLok key if you purchase some contents for it as the authorization required to open soundbanks are stored on those keys.

Hope this answers your question.

Have you guys considered to make available trial versions of your uvi sound libraries? That is, you can download the whole thing wihout limitations to your harddisk where you charge a few bucks to cover the traffic costs (lets say 5 EUR) and provide a trial license for the dongle that expires after 20 days or so. If you buy the whole thing, you'll get the 5 EUR as discount. I'd really like to test out the Jazz package, but it is one of the pricier ones and i don't know whether it'll work for me. I think the "charge for the traffic costs trial" system should be a pretty good idea and i would not hesitate to spend those 5 EUR to cover your traffic costs.

I recently downloaded the UVI Workstation version 1.0.15, and installed it on my Windows Vista-32 PC (4 GB Ram, Quad core). I previously had the 1.0.14 version installed and it worked well.

When I installed the 1.0.15 version and launch the program, I get an error that it could not mount the volume at.... (where the file listed is the shortcut to my MOTU Symphonic instrument .dat file). The strange thing is that the MSI.dat DOES load and I can use the instruments from MSI just fine.

Is there any way to get rid of this error message on the startup of the UVI Workstation? I suppose it really isnt' a problem, but I can't figure out why it suddenly started giving this error. I reinstalled the 1.0.14 version, but the same message came up...so now I have 1.0.15 back on the machine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

So I was installing the latest version of UVI Workstation on my Mac when I got this message:
Installing this software requires all
applications be closed and the system
logged out when the installation is done.
Are you sure you want to install the
software now?
Really? I have to close EVERYTHING and log out just to place UVI Workstation in my VSTPlugins folder? A little overkill, no? I mean, Waves doesn't even require this anymore. It's not like I'm installing OS-modifying stuff...

oh: it's the PACE drivers, isn't it?

Silly.

ANd here's the funny thing: just installed Waves updates and Pro Audio DSP's DSM plugin, and neither required me to close everything and log out. :?

Is it possible to make UVI workstation so that it retains the keyboard velocity setting when the preset is changed in the browser? It probably should be saved in the host document but if I had to choose I would rather see the curve maintained across presets. How about an option in preferences? The default velocity curve is just wrong for use with any of my keyboards and Synths Anthology. Otherwise UVI is awesome.

Added on the feature list.
In the meantime, I'm pretty sure there is some MIDI effect which allow this in most host or it's time to do one in Metro ;)

Glad you're having fun with all those synths.

I'm totally loving this thing for jamming on ninjam. Thank you very much for an awesome tool!

Is anyone having trouble with getting your own loop directories to stick in the browser's 'Places' folder? Some do and some don't and I cant work out a pattern to it.

Thanks
Jed

Thanks for good word Jed.

Regarding Favorites, I think the best thing is to always create favorites from the original HD and not through another favorites(start browsing from the disk and not using a favorite) or it could lead to some unwanted side effects that you are maybe experiencing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply

Unfortunately this issue is occurring even if I try to create the favorites from the HD (going in via the Devices drop down)

For instance my audio loops are in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\JI Library\Audio Loops and I can add 'Audio Loops' to to Favorites OK. But my Rex2 loops are in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\JI Library\Audio Loops\Rex2 and this wont stick at all even if I go in through the devices drop down.

Hope we can get to the bottom of this. I'm looking with lust at some of your libraries :)

Cheers
Jed

I just give it a quick try and it's working fine here.

* Few questions to find what may be the cause of this issue
Is your Rex2 folder a shortcut to another folder ? in that case, try the original folder

* Have you another folder named Rex2 already there in the places ?
Rename the other one.

Hope this helps.
