Or I doubt knobman has this, but try Bump-maping, the GIMP has a suprisingly good one.
i'll try those, i was also thinking maybe the 'shape+/-' might work...dunnoLimeflavour wrote:Try some text that's a bit darker than the background color, add some insideshadow and maybe a touch of transparency for that layer could do the trick.

I like a lot of steampunk looks, and messed around with some of it earlier.

The artistic controls are nice but I would love to see an "ergonomic" series of controls. Specifically, controls whose appearance is optimized for compact and immediate visual recognition suitable for use in a live-performance environment.

well, I started playing around I wanted to do a nice cooper type thing but it ended up looking like wood. Just an abstract thing nothing I could really use it in.

thanks. I was only able to put a few hours into it when the kids took a nap, so I finish it up tonight and post it on my blog, but its all PHS so it will be a .psd execpt for the controls. A filter might be cool perhaps it will make its way into one of my Reaktor ensemblesduncanparsons wrote:Jonathan - that would make a fantastic filter with the big dial for freq, and have some huge saturation stuff built in.. I really like it!
I agree with duncan that is coming out really nice. keep working on it will will be really cool!duncanparsons wrote:And WOK, that knob is great, don't do yourself down!

I dont know if this would help at all. knobs made in PHS (as aways the .psd file is included), images assembled abd needle rotated in knobman.WOK wrote:I'm afraid that's all I am able toHlis93 wrote:the new tools that g200kg added should really aid in getting those types of designs.

That's great (how do you make these grille?)Hlis93 wrote:well, I started playing around I wanted to do a nice cooper type thing but it ended up looking like wood. Just an abstract thing nothing I could really use it in.
Wood is good, maybe for a round metal plate this could help:

The etching should not be to deep to look natural. Etched metal is mostly treated with black colour to bring it out.
I could do a filter for this (a steampunk Moogofilter?)

did some more work this morning on the one image I posted, should now work as a filter but I still have to figure out where I am going to put the control for the resonance, perhaps another arm from the knob sort of like a clock...silly I know but I dont really want to mess with the rest of it to fit in a resonance control, perhaps drop the toggle for direction on the mod amounts and just add the res knob there makes more sense. Still have to do all the animations this afternoon
good things its crappy outside...although these animations are easy, its the elevator door one that I am not looking forward to
