Hey Mouxbar, I did as you did, played around with sfxrvst in FL, created a couple of phrases, saved, and closed. Same result when I opened the project ... no sound from the plug. But there is a solution.
Adjust the waveform control, and the sound returns! All you need to do is remember the waveform each particular instance was set to. As far as I can tell, all the other settings are as saved!
Its still an awkward beast compared to sfxr tho .... so still not sure if I'll use it. I wont rule it out tho, it might become a more attractive option when I get a bit more familiar with it.
I dont think I'm gonna manage to launch the comp early, I know there's not a lot to do, but there's a few other things I need to move on with, and i'll be gigging the next two nights. Also, I think it's a good thing to take at least a breath between the end of one comp and the start of the next.

Are we still open to vote? Anyone want to try? .... assuming you've heard the tracks of course!
Dont know what time it closes to be honest! Should there be a prize for the first person to reliably inform us that we're closed?
(Anyway, bloody itchin to get the next one goin!

I was tempted to deliver my vote to Free Form as I liked the piece but decided, in the end, to go with Peruvian Nightmare on the basis that this one sounded least like a piece put together on one synth (and I liked it, although I wasn't sure where the nightmare started).
I've actually made a start on using SFXR for a track that has a minimal techno feel, largely because SFXR can generate some very glitchy sounds. But I don't think I'll go with that one.

Thanks Tattie, tattiemannie wrote:Its still an awkward beast compared to sfxr tho .... so still not sure if I'll use it. I wont rule it out tho, it might become a more attractive option when I get a bit more familiar with it.
This gives a workable "get around" to the problem.
I virtually never use samples so I prefer the VST approach even if it is a bit flaky... but then again I'll only be turning them into samples afterwards with this situation.
It gives me a little more flexibility IMHO. I want to try and automate some of the envelopes in FL to give a bit more of an unusual sound to the track.
Let's see what circuits can be bent...
Thanks again,
Mouxbar

OK, I assume the voting is closed. But even if it isnt quite yet, I'm sure its safe to say we have a winner!
So CONGRATULATIONS to Jon Boyd!
I'll PM you Jon to sort out your prize.
There will also be a prize for second place .... but I see we have a 3 way tie for that one, so i'll need to have a think re. how I sort that one out!
I may have an idea though, so bear with me.

OK, prizes have been decided!
I have to dash off for a soundcheck right now so I'll keep it brief.
The winner, jon boyd, gets the sylenth patchbank ( donated by rob_lee )
There were three runners up, but I've disqualified myself for using a title which disrespects 'ol jacko at this tragic time.
So Gamma-UT and MadPsyance each win a free Plexihost account ( donated by buscemi )
Thanks to GlennO for the offer of a tie-break vote should that have been required, and thanks to rob_lee and buscemi for the generous prize donations.
I suggest the prize winners contact their respective prize donators via PM now that this has been publicly announced.
Thanks very much again to everyone who submitted tracks, cast votes, donated prizes and/or supported OSC5.
I'll announce the new comp tomorrow ... look out for a link in this thread.
