V-Machine

I remember that there was a good article in the knowledge base about this:
http://smproaudio.helpserve.com/index.php
In the v-machine manual this part is a bit short imho
But it's in fact easy: you can export the whole vfx library to a blank usb stick with "export machine"; alternatively you also can copy the library contents manually to the stick which again is a bit faster imho; in any case you will have two folders in the end on the stick: one called "plugs" which contains all plugin folders, and one named "banks" with all banks
then just insert then the stick into your v-machine (while it's running, start up before); the v-machine will confirm it; then just browse forward in the banks until you see the banks in brackets [], which are the ones on the stick; to import the selected bank depress both menu buttons, then the top left button until you see "import selected bank?" and confirm; this will import the bank together with all plugins that it uses; this normally takes only a few seconds; do this for each bank you want to import
If you also want to overtake the order of the banks from the vfx library on your computer then you still could do a sync over usb cable which then only will transfer the banks in the original order; this then takes much less long since the plugins and sample data is already transferred

I agree. I created some time ago a Yahoo group for the V-Machine, to have a better access to info and help from other users.carpenzano wrote: - this forum topic has became very long (113 pages!!!) and it's difficult to find the issue you're interested in; why not to open an "Official Company" forum in KVR?

But there is not much activity, .... maybe shy members?¿?
I cannot believe we comunicate with the vendor via this forum.....

I think SMPROAUDIO should create a dedicated FORUM on their website; it'd be more useful than the helpserve (that is fast and efficient anyway!!!) since anyone could see the question and the relative answer.mon8169 wrote: I agree. Tried the USBStick thing
it works (tnx Peter)BUT
Only with Sampletron and Sample Moog
It's not complicated but it require a lot of time...not really user friendly if you don't need the entire library loaded but just some sounds ( you have to pick them and put in the right directory each time... )
Ad more...it seems not working with Sonic Synth and , more strange, in sampletron work with a sound/preset and doesn't work with another ( same software, midichannel , volume and so on for both ).
Sad to say it seems that it require really a lot of time for working..and doesn't work well...

i've tried to manually copy the banks, samples, dll and so on in a USB stick. When i Plug it in the V-machine i can load from here vst and samples, BUT i can't copy them in the v-machine memory.
When i press both MENU buttons i cant's see scrollig on the left the option to copy the full bank on the machine. I can see this option only when i FIRST LOAD a sample. Once loaded i press both menu buttons and scrolling on the lef appear the option to import the BANK; BUT just the preset loaded is copied NOT the entire BANK.
Any help or suggestion?

have you copied the entire bank folders and plugin folders? in fact you only need to copy the whole "banks" and the whole "plugs" folder from the vfx library to the usb stack; then everything needed will be there for sure; you can also do this automatically by choosing "machine->export machine"
after inserting the stick in the v-machine be sure then to scroll to the banks in brackets ([]) which are the ones on the stick, and load the bank (confirm) before you import it - if the stick is fast enough you can also already play it directly from the stick to check if it works
I'm not sure if every sample content has to be loaded first before it can be imported, I actually was thinking that importing a bank also should import all needed plugins and related sample data; if this nevertheless should not be the case I would just try to also load and check-play the other presets before you import, but I don't think that this is necessary

I'm just wondering when the wizard file of Native instruments VSTs (not DEMO!) will be avaiable!

We are currently testing the new version, I expect it to be released in the next 10 days.mäxchen wrote:i'm just wondering if a new software/firmware is coming. and if we have to wait then again 3 month for an update.

The actual Wizard file is no different, the only difference is the authorization by NI. We are working together with them to make a simple system for NI customers to authorize working plugs to the V-Machine.delafuerte wrote:I'm just wondering when the wizard file of Native instruments VSTs (not DEMO!) will be avaiable!

Hi everyone -
new V-machine user here. I've successfully used it in my first gig with a Yamaha S80 as the MIDI controller. I use a volume pedal plugged into the S80, and would like to have the pedal control the volume of the instruments on the V-machine. Can someone share with me what I need to do to get that working?

As long as the S-80 is sending out MIDI messages when the volume pedal is used you can just select the MASTER VOLUME parameter on the V-Machine and then HIT the LEARN BUTTONS... move the pedal and that will assign it to the volume control. you can do this for individual channles or the master volume.bigbrowndog wrote:Hi everyone -

Thanks Danny for the quick reply - I know the S80 sends the messages, as it works fine when controlling other modules, like Fantom XR.. is the MASTER VOLUME a global parameter for the V-Machine, or does it have to be set for each plugin?
So far, I've been really happy with the V-Machine and I'm looking forward to doing a lot more with it.

Many plugins have the MASTER VOLUME already preset to a the standard CC volume control which is cc 7, as per http://www.midi.org/techspecs/midimessages.php
Alternativly you can assign it to the master volume of each PRESET (so you control the volume of the whole preset not just one plugin).
So it depends if you want to control the PRESET volume or the PLUGIN volume or the Channel (1 or the 4 channels int he VFX mixer plus the AUX channels) volume. It is very versatile in this way (the v-machine) you just need to work out what you actually want to control.
