Zebra Patchwork Contest?

Would anyone be interested in an informal monthly or bi-weekly Zebra patch designing contest? With, say, a theme decided upon for each contest, a deadline for entries, then all submissions accessible from one online folder (box.net or similar) and the winner then decided with a forum poll.
There seem to be enough people with an interest in patch design already and a regular contest might just persuade others to have a go. The end result would hopefully be a load of well designed and varied patches. It might also provoke some useful discussions about tips and tricks, better EQing, how to get the best out of the different compressor modes etc.
Of course, it would only be worthwhile if enough people were willing to take part. No prizes or anything, just for the fun of it.
Anyone up for it?
EDIT: For competition details and a chance to ***WIN PRIZES!!!*** see here

i like the KvR contest idea!
the demo lets you make patches & if we could find worth wile prizes (Uhe software & preset banks for example) then it would generate loads of interest i believe!
but that would be down to Urs Howard, Mr Old School & Mr Transmission (& some others whos name i also forget
)
either way i like the idea i just doubt it would attract any one new with no prize's
interested to see what this new "official website" will bring to the (already overflowing) Zebra2 Table

Interesting!Urs wrote:(pssst... u-he is going launch an official website for exactly that kind of stuff... hopefully before October)
So, if we did start something here (provided there's enough interest) it could maybe migrate over when this new site's ready?

Aye, I think it's a lot to ask, especially if it's every monthdjsubject wrote:the demo lets you make patches & if we could find worth wile prizes (Uhe software & preset banks for example) then it would generate loads of interest i believe!

Maybe, maybe not. For my part I don't find the offer of prizes a great motivator (being somewhat defeatist I never imagine myself winning anywayi just doubt it would attract any one new with no prize's
Personally I just like the idea of hearing and learning from what other people come up with. I'm sure there's a high proportion of Zebra users who can produce one or two really outstanding patches, but aren't anywhere near prolific enough to fill even half a soundbank (I've got a couple I think are just about okish - against scores that are pretty meh) and it's them that I'd like to hear.

Let's see... maybe I can sort out some things on my server tomorrow... or so...
I actually moved to a dedicted server because of this... just hadn't had the time to finish everything...

Hi,
I would find it interesting and helpful to have a lab or workshop
type of environment for helping to develop my skills rather than
a contest or competitive one. I'm glad that Urs is already planning
something along this line.
Cheers,
Scott

I'm not big on contests, being that I am not at all competitive but I'd be glad to participate.

Hey Urs, that's very good of you, but haven't you got more important things to be getting on with?Urs wrote:Let's see... maybe I can sort out some things on my server tomorrow... or so...
Well, it's up to you, but for the time being what I had in mind could easily be done within this forum. I'm quite happy to do the little be of organizing that'd be needed.
Anyway, best wait and see if there's enough interest in the idea first. If, say, a dozen people want to take part I think that should be enough to make it worthwhile.

The website I'm planning with Howie, tas, Wonshu is all about patch programming tutorials, HowTos, interviews and patch contests. We have quite funny ones in mind. They're not necessarily about perfection, they're often more about imagination.
It's btw also not necessarily closed of to u-he stuff. More on this later

Well, I had two stressy weeks of depressing bug hunt and I really need to do something else for a while. I'm currently listening to all the patch banks that have been released recently, so maybe it'd kind of fit to work on this thinghakey wrote:Hey Urs, that's very good of you, but haven't you got more important things to be getting on with?![]()

This sounds like fun... a good way to learn more! I'm in (when the site and details are arranged).

So that's mello, djs, justin, Echo, elxi and myself makes 6 so far.
@rex and justin - I don't think of myself as a competitive person at all - quite the opposite (I never win anything so what's the point?).
For me a contest just seems a way to: get to hear the best of what other Zebra users can do; maybe prod people into trying to do things with Zebra that they might not otherwise do; hear from those patchers who might be very able but not so prolific; and provoke discussion, get feedback and learn from others.
