I purchased MDrummer Large in the group buy and ran the download program from the website which downloaded a setup.dat file on my machine. I got the license key in an email. Does anyone know how to install MDrummer Large? Running the setup.dat file doesn't do anything and running the 2.14 updater won't do anything if you haven't already done an install. I couldn't find any installer on the MeldaProduction website.
How does one do an initial, first-time installation of MDrummer Large?
TIA for any help or suggestions.

You have to run setup.exe
The readme.txt file explains:
Please use "setup.exe" to install the software. It requires internet connection.
If you do not have internet connection available, please contact our support team and we will help you with that.
If an error occurs during the installation, there is a high chance the file
"setup.dat" has not been downloaded correctly. In that case please run "fix.exe".
It is the downloader that checks the file and fixes any errors if found.
Hope this helps.

That's what I assumed, but where do I find the setup.exe file? The downloader only downloaded the setup.dat file and I have looked all over the MeldaProduction website and I can't seem to locate a setup.exe file for MDrummer Large.
Thanks again.

I'm not sure why it missed downloading the Setup.exe file, but I would go back to MeldaProduction's website, and chose to download via torrent.
You can select (in uTorrent) the setup file (about 2meg) ONLY, as you already have the .dat file.
Another option would be to request a download link via their support page.
I downloaded everything with uTorrent, and the readme file was included.

Ok, I guess I will have to try to use uTorrent to do the download all over again.John-E34 wrote:I'm not sure why it missed downloading the Setup.exe file, but I would go back to MeldaProduction's website, and chose to download via torrent.

I used the regular download and the only file it saved was the setup.dat file. The download ran for over 26 hours on my system (broadband), so this has been a long, slow, painful process. I have contacted tech support and hope to hear from them soon.
Thanks, again.

I was trying to stress that you can use uTorrent to download ONLY the files you want. You do not need the setup.dat file, so just choose the .exe and .txt files... the download should take five minutes!

Yep, I understood that -- thanks very much!John-E34 wrote:I was trying to stress that you can use uTorrent to download ONLY the files you want. You do not need the setup.dat file, so just choose the .exe and .txt files... the download should take five minutes!
I'm trying to install and learn how it use uTorrent right now. Hopefully, it will only take a few minutes, like you said, to download the setup.exe and the readme.txt.
I appreciate your help!

Hey guys, sorry for the delay, I was sleeping
.
Anyway the downloader serves as installer too. So you only need to run the downloader and it checks the file and runs the installer afterwards.

Thanks for your response. The problem is that I downloaded to a secondary machine first because I could not tie up my main recording machine for 26 hours downloading 3.6 GBs of data. I expected the downloader to download all the files, including the setup.exe file, to the designated folder. But the downloader only downloads the setup.dat file to the folder, not the setup.exe file. As you say, the downloader serves as the installer, too, but that doesn't work if you download to a secondary machine first (because I didn't want to install MDrummer on the secondary machine). I just wanted to download the files and then copy them to my main machine when the download finished and do the installation there on the main recording machine. I had no idea that the downloader was going to put the setup.exe file in some unknown temp location on my secondary machine and try to run it behind the scenes. So, all I had was a setup.dat file and no way to install MDrummer on my main machine. There is no readme.txt file on the website, that I could find, that provided any help.
Fortunately, John let me know that the uTorrent downloader allows downloading all the files individually, so that finally solved the problem.
Anyway, the current "auto-install" strategy of the downloader doesn't work if a user like me needs to download to a secondary machine first. Something to consider, I think, given how huge the download files are.

You are completely right! About 5 hours ago the downloader has been updated, so it creates the setup.exe too. It was originally ment for users with internet connection only, other should use DVD version. The group buy action unfortunately made the things kind of complicated.
Anyway now it is possible. Sorry for inconvenience!
