MPC + Receptor?

I am looking for a way of creating a laptop free setup for performing electronic music live.

My idea goes like this:
MIDI sequencer in MPC sends MIDI.
Receptor receives MIDI to play synths or pre rendered audio clips (like abelton live).
Novation Remote using NRPN and CC to control the Receptor.
Audio taken out of the Receptor.

What do you think of this setup? I do not own an MPC but I am aware that the higher end models can sequence entire songs rather than just rhythm parts.

Also what would be a suitable sampler to replace the clip functionality inside Abelton?

Hi!

That seems perfectly feasable... From my experience, I had an MPC 2000 XL that I used as a sequencer with 8 different modules and it worked perfectly. I didn't have the Receptor at that time, but it works exactly the same with MIDI.
Just one thing: since Receptor has only one MIDI in, if you want to use the Novation Remote, you will either need a MIDI merge (Midi Solutions does that kind of things), or your can try to go through the MPC (the 2000 xl has two MIDI IN and two MIDI OUT, so there should be a way to do it).
About the sampler, I don't know what you want to do with it exactly. Do you want to be able to record into Receptor and then be able to play clips? In that case, I have no idea... Receptor does not seem to be made for that. If it is just a matter of playing clips synchronized in tempo, then I would try to use Kontakt, though I have never really tried...
You can also use Stylus RMX for that, but you need to process the loops through Recycle (Propellerheads software) on your PC first and then you can use it in Stylus, apply effects and even vary the tempo...

Hope this helps
