I woke up with this idea a few days ago and got agitated. Unfortunately these are the phases of extremely high motivation that better don't be interrupted
Oh no Urs, if you're feeling inspired you just stay in your laboratory
Maybe we should have prizes... for this time I'll throw in an alpha of above thing for the first 3 places
Well that would be very kind of you  - and I'm sure that it would motivate more people to have a go.

But then, might it be better to extend the deadline for this first contest? I get the feeling that a lot of people missed the 'official announcement' the first time around and the day or so that's left would perhaps not allow enough time for people to come up with something.

Either that, or offer the prizes for the next contest - I have an neat idea for a more focused task - one that would hopefully get people to think a bit more.

Any thoughts anyone?

How would those who've already made a submission feel about this deadline being extended (for a week say)?

Post

I think extending the deadline for a week would be cool.

Anyone who feels inclined to create a patch for the Metropolis scene will certainly love that new toy. I hope to have a screenshot in 2-3 days, so that'll add to the motivation 8)

Cheers,

;) Urs

Ok. I think that's what we'll do then.

I'm sure the lure of ***REAL PRIZES!!!*** should really whip some interest - especially when the prize sounds so interesting 8)

I'll amend the thread title in the stickies and bump this thread from time to time.

(And to be fair, those who have already made a submission can resubmit if they want)

Something inbetween an ARP2600, a Cwejman S1 and a Doepfer modular system, with a fixed set of modules but different configurations to choose from. It won't be as versatile/complex/cpu-friendly as Zebra, but it is supposed to have other qualities... especially in the fun department.
Wow! :-o Sounds like loads of fun..................Now I've just got to come up with a Top Three Patch for Metropolis......no pressure...... :D

@hakey:
Question. You collect all the entries.
Are you also able to add your entry?

Post

I'd be up for an extension on the deadline too... I got a bit caught up this weekend, running around town.

Prizes seem cool... but I'd be even just happy with a screenshot of the new synth! It sounds like fun!

Yes, of course - why not? Kind of sounds like a loaded question?

If you're concerned about a conflict of interests (as I'll know who's the author of which patch), well, I'd already decided not to take part in the 'official' vote - maybe I should have said so earlier?

TBH I really am more interested in just getting to hear a load of new patches than winning any competition.

No reason, just wanted to know. The more the better, right?
Actually the problem I have is, I'm blocked here from "boxnet"
If that's what you use for the preset dl's, I won't be able to get them.
Really, I'm blocked from many file sharing sites. I only can use megaupload. Maybe I can find some other site, not sure.

No worries. I can upload them to megaupload for you (it's free, isn't it?).

Where are you, China? If you like I can include some pro-democracy, 'Free Tibet' type literature too? :hihi:

Yes megaupload is free, but China's not. :(

edit: maybe as an alternate dl site from the normal boxnet, as many people stated that they like boxnet. megupload makes you wait before dl too.

I was planning on putting up the set of patches on the PatchLib site. I can't wait to hear new presets. :)

Oh, then it will be no problem.
Then we dl and vote on them?
If that's how it works, then no need for a file share site. Cool
Thanks.

Perfect idea!

Great idea!

Shall I continue collecting them then? I don't want to change the instructions again after already changing the deadline once. I'll just go ahead as before and put them all in a box.net folder for now (and there will also be associated .mid files too) - and you can upload them to your site from there.
