Jeremy's suggestion doesn't work here, since if I just click on the link the file's code simply loads into a blank Safari page. Right-clicking the file and choosing "Save linked file as..." always adds the .txt extension.
However, removing this extension cannot be done in the Finder. It can, however, be done in the file's "Get Info" window. You'll be asked to confirm this action (note that you'll have to use the mouse to do this).
A PITA to be sure, but then Sylenth1 is worth it.
Kind regards.

Hi Jeremy, yea I did try this before downloading in Fusion, but no matter what it keeps adding the .txt after the .fxp extension. I already downloaded all of the presets in Fusion though.SaganTech wrote:Hello DJ,djanthonyw wrote:Sounds excellent Lennard. Just a heads up though... when downloading in OSX the presets automatically get a .txt extension. I obviously tried renaming, but it just reverts back to .txt. I had to download through VMWare Fusion...
If instead of clicking on the link, you simply right-click and select 'download saved file as' (this assumes you are using Safari) you get the .fxp file and it works fine.

Is there a way I can remove the .txt extension on a PC?Dave Bourke wrote: However, removing this extension cannot be done in the Finder. It can, however, be done in the file's "Get Info" window. You'll be asked to confirm this action (note that you'll have to use the mouse to do this).

I don't own or use a PC. I believe there's a similar kind of thing if you right-click on the file and choose "Properties" or something like that and you should get an editable filename and extension field.
Kind regards

Just a suggestion... Lennard, would it be possible to zip up all the presets in a single archive and make it available in the updates section? I think having this option would be a lot easier for registered users than downloading each one individually.
I'm guessing that presets currently there will be included in the future updates?

The online presets section is only available for registered users. It can't be accessed with an illegal serial. Fitting everything into 1 package or adding it to the updates would facilitate illegal distribution again, so I don't think that would be a smart thing to do, but that's up to Lennard of course.djanthonyw wrote:Just a suggestion... I do like the idea of using online sections as extra motivation to become legal (compared to dongles), so I wouldnt mind if it stayed this way.

I meant make a zip file that contains all of the extra downloadable presets that could be accessed through the registered user update area... on the same page where you currently download the individual presets.
I think this would make sense for registered users that already know they want to download all of the presets. It would turn 50 clicks into 1.

Which would be very easy for people to dump on filesharing networks.djanthonyw wrote:I meant make a zip file that contains all of the extra downloadable presets that could be accessed through the registered user update area... on the same page where you currently download the individual presets.

Understandable, but anyone could do the same thing if they already have them downloaded.

Sure, but I think it would be a smart thing to keep customers coming to your secured, online section on a regular basis instead of handing out distribution files every now and then. At least, that's how I would do itdjanthonyw wrote:Understandable, but anyone could do the same thing if they already have them downloaded.
If it was for me, I would have built out the online section anyway, to build and maintain a community with presets, tutorials, videos etc, maybe even competitions (and lots of prize money !!! hehe) and I would have definately moved this support board there to ensure you'd only give support to legal users (and keep this support board on KVR only for info to interested potential customers). But anyway, going too much offtopic now

Yes, but once there are a certain amount of presets they could be grouped together... by the month perhaps? It can be very tedious clicking and saving them. It's also easy to lose track, whether it means clicking on one you already downloaded or skipping one by accident. The main issue is downloading them on Mac (for some at least) because of the added .txt extension.

Good point. A preset syncronisation function would solve all of this (e.g., you click a button and it compares your download directory with the online directory and downloads everything that's needed. Or of course like you suggest, fitting everything in a package, way less programming work anywaydjanthonyw wrote:Yes, but once there are a certain amount of presets they could be grouped together... by the month perhaps? Hehe, thinking of this, I'd say it's a damn good idea !
A 'check for new presets' function that synchronizes your local directory with the online one. Easy, hassle free way of using and a nice way of pointing out another benefit of being a legal user.
Also, when the skinning is operational, that content could be added for online sync as well.

Unfortunately I still can't get rid of the .txt extension. I tried what djanthonyw recommended(thanks btw) right-clicking and going into "properties" but no luck...
Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this .txt issue on a PC(running Firefox)?

After you download them to a folder, My Documents (or wherever), open the My Documents folder so you see it's contents.
At the top, click Tools, Folder Options, click View (at the top)then uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types", click Apply and then Ok.
Then you can see the extensions to edit them, and change *.txt to *.fxp if it's a preset, or change it to *.fxb if it's a bank.
