Apparently, the GUI not showing up is a multihost problem. Maybe I should upgrade the VST to version 2.4, that might fix it.

No, that's not a bug, it's a feature :hihi:

The modulators that modulate almost every continuos parameter in SynthMaster 2.0 operate at low frequency, i.e. at "buffer" rate. The processing buffer parameter in SynthMaster determines the "buffer" rate these modulators are rendered. Those modulators are:

Synth LFO 1-4 (global LFOs)
Vocoder Bands 1-16
Voice LFO 1-2
Voice ADSR Envelopes 1-4
Voice Multistage Envelopes 1-2

The following 4 modulators Modulator 1/2/3/4 on the other hand, operate at "audio" rate (i.e. they are rendered at every sample), they are used for audio rate modulation of:

1. Osc1-2 amplitude (Amplitude modulation, Ring modulation)
2. Osc1-2/Mod 1-4 frequency (Frequency modulation)
3. Osc1-2/Mod 1-4 phase (Phase modulation, which is the widest common form of FM)

The routings for the modulators can be set from the "layer" tab.

I hope the majority of the KVR forum users will realize this in time as well.
Looking forward to the day when thousands follow the news on SynthMaster :)

Yeah, I realized that as well. Right now, I have Renoise, Cantabile, EnergyXT, Reaper, Ableton Live, Orion, and FL8 demos installed on my machine just to test the VSTi :)

Hey again guys!

Got the latest beta VSTi, now it loads and plays, but no GUI.

Using (P)hase as an FM TYPE of modulation hasn't been working very well. Only today for the first time I was able to get a decent sounding modulation from the synth with this method. I should have written about it earlier as it's been that way here from the beginning. What's happening, is if I go

Layer1-> OSC1 and enable MODULATOR 1 (P type)

... for example, I get a screaming sound - reeeally loud and very high pitched and sometimes turns into a pop (like turning on your speakers when volume is high). It's been tricking me, however because sometimes it works, and from what I can tell after narrowing it down:

- P type FM modulation is working very well ONLY when Sine and Pulse are the chosen OSCILLATOR waveforms. Here the sound is as expected and you can hear all changes in modulator parameters as you make them.
- If I choose TRI, SQU or SAW forms on the OSCILLATOR page, I cannot get a patch. It's a real scream of a noise.

This is true with a BASIC OSCILLATOR - AND - with only the first voice of an ADDITIVE OSCILLATOR. The remaining additive voices can have any waveform playing under the same conditions and work very well. I tried them all individually, and as a lot, and it worked. Only the first voice is having the same problem as the BASIC oscillator page

All this I can reproduce, so please let me know, if you like, I can capture a video and send to you tommorrow. :)

Hi Debutante,

Thanks for the great feedback!

Just fixed this one. We have a new build now: 1.9.9.4

For the GUI issue, I'd recommend using Reaper until I figure out the GUI problem.

- Start the Synth
- Go to Layer 1-> Osc2 and enable
- Choose FM Source "Modulator 1"
- Choose FM Type "F" - up to this point all is well.
- Turn on "Sync" on this osc and hit a note.

This crashes the synth immdiately for me, every time.
Fixed this in build 1.9.9.4 as well!

Remaining issues to reach the beta status:

1. For wavetable type oscillators, I have to unit test all the modulation algorithms (i.e. RM, FM, PM, Sync algorithms)

2. I have to complete the mono mode, it might not be working correctly right now.

Hı folks,

Just sent out the announcement for build 1.9.9.4:

In this build we have the following updates:

1. FIXED: Osc PM modulation generates noisy output for tri/squ/saw/pulse waveforms
2. FIXED: When FM/PM sources are selected on Osc2 that is synced to Osc1, a crash occurs.
3. FIXED: Sine waveform is selected and displayed initially when the "Waveform" tab is selected.

We still have the following outstanding issues reported by you guys:

1. SynthMaster VSTi UI not showing up on the following hosts: Fruity Loops 8, Cantabile, Chainer, EnergyXT 2.5, Cubase

The UI shows up/functions correctly on Reaper 3.0, so we'd encourage you to perform all your VSTi testing using Reaper!

Also, to reach the Beta status, we have the following features missing:

1. Glide not implemented yet for Mono mode.
2. Mono mode works only for Layer 1.
3. Microtune settings should be per Layer
4. User interface for Microtune settings should be implemented.
5. Key scaler interfaces and implementation should be changed.

Happy testing,

Bulent,
How are we to do updates with each new build? Do I trash the whole program or is there a built in uninstaller. I just thought I'd ask to get the quickest recommended way and avoid having to fiddle with the serial # again.

Meanwhile: I'm getting a crash in the standalone version on my Windows XP SP3 Hp system(displayed below). I went to the filer section, played a note on the computer keyboard and while turing the cutoff the note just continued and won't stop unless I quit.

Just unrar the archive to the same location you unrared before. There are no installers yet!

What type of filter were you using.i.e.what where the filter settings? type (LP/analog/digital/12db/24db/etc...)

Thanks!

Bulent,
It was Filter 1 whatever comes up on the default setting for that organ preset. I didn't even go so far as to try different filter settings before I got the crash.

Also, The VST version not working in EnergyXT2.05Core CM edition. When you click on the instrument track tab a tiny sliver appears in the track....and when you click on that you get one tiny corner of the SM GUI...but so small you don't see much more than a jumble of names. THAT's interesting.... :?:

Iv'e had to delete Synthmaster from my system :( way too many crashes.spending more time rebooting than designing any sounds..sorry mate i thought this was already beta tested and ready for the sound design..it's a shame coz it's a nice synth.

Guys, I just fixed the UI bug

And I was able to reproduce the 128 buffer size problem with FL8.
